Some welcoming words from Fr. Dan, our Pastor
Hello!
On behalf of the nine thousand and some men, women and children who call The Catholic Community of St. Francis of Assisi their home, welcome! Though the Roman Catholic tradition doesnt use the term "mega-church" in its jargon, I think we have one here. We are a parish founded in Raleigh, North Carolina, only fifteen years ago. While the rapid population shift to our area has certainly attributed to our growth, I like to think it is the incredible vibrancy of our community that has brought many our way. We are open to all and try our best to call others into ministering to our world in ways that give special care and attention to those weighed down by lifes fragility. Currently, over 2,000 of our members are involved in some form or another of outreach ministry. We take seriously our responsibility of bringing the compassion of Christ to the world.
Would you like to consider joining us? An estimated twenty-eight percent of those who worship with us week after week come from faith traditions other than our own. We believe this diversity enriches our liturgy and our commitment to be Christ for one another. If you are looking for a quiet, contemplative experience of worship, you might best look elsewhere. We are a lively and diverse community - some of us young, some of us old, some married, single or divorced, some with children, some without - but all of us seeking to be challenged in our faith and praying together in a way that strengthens us for service to others. Not for everyone, but perhaps for you.
If you are already committed to a community of faith, God bless you. They are strengthened because of you. I hope our Web Page will give you an idea or two to make your faith even more important to you. Thanks for visiting with us. If you have a suggestion that might help us better live the Gospel, leave a message.
God bless you and those you love,
In Christ,
Daniel T. Kenna, O.F.M.
