Adult Education
A committee of parishioners who sponsor a variety of educational and spiritual enrichment programs for adults in the parish. For more information contact John Zerkel at 849-7617.



Altar Flowers and Decorations
This liturgical committee plans altar decorations for Christmas, Easter and special occasions, makes banners and helps maintain the outside Manger Scene. To volunteer to help or for more information, you are encouraged to call Beth Forsee at 968-7273 or Theresa Corby at 962-2427.



Altar Society
This Society prepares and maintains the altar and sacristy for daily as well as special liturgies and liturgical seasons. No regular meetings are held but volunteers are most welcome. For more information call Mary Waldschmidt at 962-6649.



Annunciation Parents Association
The purpose of the Annunciation Parents Association is to provide an opportunity for parents to participate in activities to support the betterment of the school. These activities include social events, fund- raisers and activities to foster greater communication between parents and faculty. The Association makes available to the pastor and principal the many talents of parents.

Annunciation School Board
The role of the School Board involves the formulation, interpretation, and evaluation of policies regarding the educational programs of Annunciation Parish. It is an advisory body to the Pastor and the Principal. Board meetings are open to all parents. Board meetings are published in the Parish bulletin and monthly school calendar prior to the meeting. Athletic Association
Annunciation Athletic Association is an organization designed to promote team activities for boys and girls under guidance, leadership and regulation. It promotes the physical and moral development of the participants with a Christian attitude of fairness and good sportsmanship. No formal meeting dates are set. Beautification Committee
Do you have a “green thumb?” Do you have some time to devote to things botanical?

The parish property is kept looking beautiful by planting fall and spring flowers, sprucing up flower beds, trimming shrubs, fertilizing, feeding, seeding and watering plants during the summer months. Your talents would be appreciated and utilized. You are invited to call Karen Newberry at 918-7479.



Before and After School Care
Supervised care is offered for children K-8 before and after school. Snacks are included with afternoon care and, weather permitting, the children are taken outside for play. Time is set aside for doing homework and crafts and games are available.

Care is available on normal school days from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 a.m. and from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. For more information call the School Office at 961-7712.



Blood Drive
Parishioners provide the facilities and staff for a Red Cross Blood Drive annually. Volunteers provide life saving blood, assistance and registration and help Red Cross personnel where needed. They also assist with refreshments, following the blood donation and help with loading and unloading the equipment vehicle. For more information call Mary Dana at 968-9774.



Bridge Group
The group meets in members’ homes from September to May to provide a social activity for those who enjoy the game of bridge. For more information call Ruth Cooper at 961-9204.



Calling and Visiting the Sick
Persons on the sick list are called to assess their needs and to offer help. Referrals are made to other committees if appropriate. To volunteer to help or to add someone to the sick list call Bette Sly at 962-3604.



Children’s Liturgy
Children’s Liturgy takes place during the 9:30 a.m. Mass. After opening prayer in church the children ages 5 – 9 leave church with an adult volunteer for the school and hear the mass reading and have an activity geared to their age. The children then return to church to join their family and to participate in the Liturgy of the Eucharist. For more information or to volunteer to help please call Jane Billings at 918-0252. No registration is required to participate.



Choir
The choir exists to enliven the Gospel message of the Liturgy. The choir sings at the 9:30 a.m. Sunday Liturgy, Holy Days, and national holidays. Practices are held weekly at 7:30 p.m. usually on a Wednesday or Thursday depending upon the availability of choir members. There is always a need for musicians and singers. Christmas Giving Tree
The whole parish gets involved with seeing that needy children and families have a Merry Christmas. Four local agencies serving the needy are the recipients of your generosity. Our Ladies Inn, St. Vincent de Paul, South Side Day Nursery, and Birthright distributes our food and gifts. Most of the agencies direct the gifts to the parents to give to their children because they may not be able to give their children gifts at this holiday season.



Coffee & Donut Sunday
This group of parishioners organizes a Coffee & Donuts Hospitality time after all Sunday masses once a month were parishioners can visit and meet fellow parishioners. Different organizations from the parish serve as hostess.



Emergency Meals
Meals (usually the main meal) are provided for parishioners on a short- term basis. Anyone in need of meals can contact Jill Lauman at 961-6616 or the Parish Office at 962-5955.



Eucharistic Adoration
Every Tuesday, 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., this quiet meditative, prayerful time is open to all for visits. Some parishioners have signed-up for an hour of adoration each week. If you would like more information or if you would like to sign-up for an hour of adoration weekly, bi-monthly or monthly, call Jeanne Place at 918-0783 or Patti Wagner at 961-2416.



Eucharistic Ministers
The Eucharistic Ministers distribute the Body and Blood of Jesus at Mass and take Holy Communion to the sick, elderly and shut-ins. For more information call the Parish Office at 962-5955.



Feed the Homeless
On the second Tuesday of the month, the Annunciation Parish provides the salad to accompany a meal for the homeless served at St. Patrick Shelter. Jackie Schuster collects lettuce, dressings and salad fixings on the Monday before the second Tuesday for transportation to St. Patrick’s. School supplies, blankets, men’s clothing are also collected at different times of the year. Volunteers are always needed. For more information call Marty Useted at 961-2505.



Funeral Lunch Committee
The Funeral Lunch Committee are volunteers who provide a luncheon after the funeral of a parishioner. There is no charge for this service but donations are accepted. Those interested in donating their time to this ministry should call Gloria Aholt at 961-7085.



Hospitality Ministers
The Hospitality Ministers at Annunciation greets parishioners when they come to church and helps parishioners, whether it be to find a seat or assist someone who becomes ill. The Ministers always welcomes new members, both men and women. If you are interested in becoming a Hospitality Minister, please call the Parish Office at 962-5955.



Job Bank
A list of 7th and 8th graders who will help with lawn care, snow removal, baby-sitting and house cleaning is available from the Parish Office. Scheduling and compensation are on a mutually agreed upon basis.



Lectors
The ministry, made up of men, women and teenagers, proclaim the Word of God, announce songs and make announcements at all Liturgies at Annunciation Parish. If you are interested in joining this ministry please call the Parish Office at 962-5955.



Mass Servers
The servers are a group of boys and girls ranging in age from 6th grade through high school. After a training period they are prepared to serve weekday, weekend, wedding and funeral masses. For more information call the Parish Office at 962-5955.



Meal-A-Month Program
Through the Meal-A-Month Program the parish provides meals for the poor. Once a month, yellow bags with a menu for a meal are passed out after Sunday Masses. The parishioners return these bags to the back of church. These bags are then distributed to area food kitchens. Men’s Club
This group purpose is to promote a religious fellowship to its members and the Parish Family through leadership and example, to bring together the men of the Parish in a social atmosphere, to develop friendships, camaraderie and togetherness in their daily lives. It sponsors ways and means of raising funds, providing talents and manpower to assist in support for the maintenance of Parish properties and other related Parish Family needs. Membership is open to men, 21 years of age or older, that are registered and/or reside within the boundaries of the Annunciation Parish and have an active interest in assisting in both achieving the goals and participating in the activities of this organization. Associate Membership is open to young men 18 - 21 years of age that meet the above criteria. Meetings are normally held on the third Wednesday of the month, and other events are scheduled throughout the year. These events include several fund-raisers, community service, social activities and spiritual gatherings. For more information contact Bob Herdler at 963-9526.



M.O.M.S.
The M.O.M.S. group is a parish-based ministry that strengthens the spirituality of mothers, who inturn, share their strengths with their families and the larger Christian community. It provides a group experience of learning, praying and ministering to each other. This group meets each Tuesday at 10:00 am. For more information please call Diane Verhoff at 968-9469.



Parish Nurse Program
The Parish Nurse Program is a health ministry that blends health care with a Spiritual component. Parish Nurse do not provide traditional “hands on” home care. However, they do assess, advise and counsel the elderly, new mothers or any parishioners in need. Parish Nurses help fellow parishioners “connect” with the medical community. Parish Nurses also provide and coordinate health education programs. This program links the spiritual and medical elements of health car. Parish Picnic Committee
The Parish Picnic is a unique opportunity to gather all members of the parish for a day of fun with rides, booths and food concessions. The Parish Picnic Committee is recruited each year to manage the various activities and details necessary to be certain the picnic runs safely and efficiently. Meetings are scheduled as necessary starting in February until the picnic in May. For more information call Diane Verhoff at 968-9469



Parish School of Religion - PSR
Under the direction of the Parish School Board this part-time school provides the religious education program for parish children in grades K-12 who attend public and non-Catholic private schools. Classes meet weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6:45 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. during the school year. The catechiest teachers usually are parishioners, enjoy working with children and wish to share their faith with them. Sacramental preparation and annual family liturgies compliment the classroom work. PSR is sensitive to working towards a positive experience for special needs children. Peregrine Society
This group is involved in monthly bandage making for home cancer patients. Members tear, fold, roll and do simple sewing on bandages. Volunteers and white sheets are always needed. Meetings are on the second Wednesday of the month at 10:00 a.m. in the Parish Center. For more information call Till Brenneman at 961-1143.



Prayer Chain
Each month a name from each list is published in the bulletin. When a call for prayer comes in, they call each other, then they each call the people on their list. We all remember these intentions in our prayers all month and bring these intentions to our prayer meeting. For more information call Kay Hoelting at 962-4599.



Pro-Life Committee
This committee works for protection of the unborn and supports all life issues. Parishioners may participate in the Pro-Life Day of Prayer, organizing Birthright “showers” for women experiencing crisis pregnancies, organize raffles and other fund raising events to help support “Our Lady’s Inn”, a home for women who are pregnant and homeless. An annual highlight is participation in the “Life Chain.” For more information call Jackie Schuster at 962-8869.



Quilt Club
The Quilt Club provides contact for parishioners who enjoy quilting and as a fund-raising project for the parish. The project is to quilt one quilt per-month, which is awarded monthly to those people who purchase annually a membership to the club.

The Club meets every Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Anyone interested in quilting is welcome to join the meeting in the Glenelm Room. For more information call Cleo Heinrich at 525-7440.



Rose Garden Club
The Annunciation Rose Garden Club was created in memory of the late Reverend John Klocker, former Senior Associate Pastor, who initiated, established and maintained the rose garden located on the south side of the rectory for the benefit of the entire parish. The club’s purpose is to continue the care and preservation of that garden that had previously accomplished by Father Klocker If you have a passion for roses and desire to learn how to care for these beautiful bushes, you are invited to call Linda Gray at 962-4811.



Scouting
BOY SCOUTS: Boys, ages 10 and up, from our parish have a choice of many different Boy Scout troops. The Boy Scout Office will give you the list of the leaders in our area. Call the Boy Scout Council for further information. Tell them you live in Webster Groves. Their number is 361-0600.

BROWNIES/GIRL SCOUTS: Brownies and Girl Scouts offer a wide variety of activities for girls. Girls may join at anytime from Kindergarten through eighth grade. For more information call Diane Verhoff at 968-9469.

CUB SCOUTS: Boys in grades 1 through 5 may join for fun filled activities. Pack 305 combines boys from both Annunciation School and Clark School. For more information call Jerry Klein at 963-1835.



St. Vincent de Paul Society
The St. Vincent de Paul Society provides “near emergency” assistance to persons within the parish boundaries or throughout the community in the homes of those in need. The food-barrel at the church entrance is a constant reminder of this need and gives parishioners an opportunity to assist the Society. Private donations are the only source of income to provide for short term financial help necessary. Members of the Society, in their visits with clients, investigate problems, offer advice, comfort, expertise, and possible solutions. The Society meets on the second Wednesday of each month. Stewardship Committee
The purpose of the committee is to organize and facilitate the contributions of parishioner’s time, talent and treasure for the benefit of the entire parish family. They publish the Time and Talent Directory (this book), hold the Festival of Ministries, and run the Annual Stewardship Appeal.



Sunday School
Sunday School is held on Sunday’s during the school year at our Pre-School ( White House) from 9:15 am to 10:30 am for 3 –5 year olds. The children engage in songs, games, activities, bible story and lesson based on the Sunday Mass readings of the day. For information or to register call Kathy Bretsch at 961-9086.



Transportation
Transportation to the store and doctors, etc, is offered to parishioners on a temporary basis. To volunteer to drive or for more information call Jackie Pratte at 961-7764.
