C.A.R.E. - CHRISTIAN ACTION REALLY EVIDENT

Purpose: We are Christians who actively care for parishioners in need who have suffered the loss of a dear one. We strive to meet the needs of the parishioners in these most difficult situations. We do this trusting in God and relying on the time, talents, concerns and resources of the people of St. Roch. We provide support to families in bereavement by supplying and preparing food either in the church hall or in the family's home after funeral services for a registered parishioner. This organization is a function of the Women of St. Roch.

 

CHOIR

Purpose: The choirs are made up of people from all walks of life who are willing to make the worship and liturgical atmosphere grow and prosper in our parish.

DEANERY REPRESENTATIVES

Purpose: Our members on the Deanery Council (Northwest Deanery) meet to better communicate and coordinate the Church of St. Louis operations.

 

EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT CENTER

Purpose: Provide children, ages 3-5 years, with the best developmentally appropriate activities to meet the child's social, emotional, physical and intellectual needs.

 

EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS

Purpose: Assist with the distribution of Holy Communion.

 

FINANCE BOARD

Purpose: Meet with the pastor, propose the annual budget of the parish, including the school, recommend the budget and manner of raising funds.

 

LECTORS

Purpose: Lectors perform the important liturgical function of proclaiming the scriptural readings at the Saturday evening and Sunday masses. Participation in this group allows our laity to serve actively in the Mass.

 

LITURGY COMMISSION

Purpose: Coordinate and initiate activities in the Parish, which pertain to the celebration of the liturgy of the Church and the spiritual growth of the parishioners.

 

MEN OF ST. ROCH:

Purpose: Provide an organization for the men of the parish and parish school to assist the Pastor, the parish and the school as well as enhance the spiritual life of the men of St. Roch. The men of St. Roch sponsor social and spiritual events, participate in fund raising projects, administer the Christian Action Really Evident Program (C.A.R.E.), fund-raising efforts, support the parish and the parish school.

 

SCHOOL ASSOCIATION

Purpose: Unite the efforts of parents, teachers, principal and priests to promote the highest possible level of excellence in education.

 

SCHOOL BOARD

Purpose: This Board functions as an advisory body to the Pastor and School Principal for formulating and evaluating policies for the facilities, programs of, and programs at St. Roch School.

 

SCOUTS:

Purpose: Develop personal growth and enrichment through activities which include crafts, field trips, sporting activities, camping and participation in neighborhood events. Membership for the Girl Scouts and Boy Scouts is available in the fall.

 

SERVERS:

Boys and Girls, in grades 5 through 10, serve Mass and other services on a rotating schedule.

 

SKINKER-DEBALIVIERE COMMUNITY COUNCIL

Purpose: Parish representative attends council meetings and reports to the parish executive board any potential or completed community changes. St. Roch is one of the funding organizations of the Council.

 

STEWARDSHIP PROGRAM

Purpose: Coordinate the resources of time, talent and treasure of all parishioners to better serve the parish family.

 

PARISH COUNCIL OF ST. ROCH

Purpose: This governing body of St. Roch Church operates within canonical and diocesan regulation; is responsible for the direction and coordination of parish activities, standing committees and organizations in the accomplishment of the work of the Lay Apostolate. It is a forum for the free communication of ideas within the parish.

 

PARISH SCHOOL OF RELIGION

Purpose: Teach Catholic doctrine to children attending non-Catholic schools. St. Roch children attend St. Joseph in Clayton.

 

PARISH WELCOME AND DEVELOPMENT

Purpose: Welcome new parishioners, provide information about St. Roch Church, School, and the neighborhood. It is a goal of this committee to involve all parishioners in parish life.

 

PRO-LIFE COMMISSION

Purpose: Coordinate educational, pastoral, and public advocacy efforts to restore respect for human life.

 

ST. VINCENT dePAUL

Purpose: Help those in need of temporary assistance with food, utilities, rent and provide counseling when necessary. Rectory office is open on Wednesday afternoons, 1:00 - 3:00 PM.

 

SALADS FOR ST. PATRICK CENTER

Purpose: Provide food to St. Patrick Center for the homeless. On the third Thursday of each month, as part of the St. Patrick Center casserole program to feed the homeless, St. Roch parishioners prepare, in their home, a mixed green salad and deliver the salad to the parish coordinator's home. These salads are then delivered to St. Patrick Center by the parish coordinator.

 

USHERS

Purpose: The ushers perform many essential liturgical functions at mass; seating the assembly, handling the collection, giving assistance in case of illness during mass, and distributing the weekly bulletins.

 

WOMEN OF ST. ROCH
