IMMACULATE CONCEPTION BULLETIN
January 25, 1998
FRIAR'S MIND
You may be aware that the Archdiocese of St. Louis has been
working for several years on a Strategic Pastoral Plan. The
purpose of the plan is to help parishes renew their life of
faith and our commitment to Christ.
At this time it is desirable to have input from all the
people of the archdiocese. An opportunity is being offered
for everyone to express his or her personal opinion and
offer advice. So that all people can be heard, a survey
will be conducted in every parish. Next weekend at Mass you
will be asked to fill out this survey which covers many
different aspects of parish life.
This survey has been tried in several pilot parishes and
found to work quite well. So next Sunday, February 1, after
a brief homily you will be given an opportunity to complete
this survey. Results will be reported after they have been
tabulated.
If we care about the quality of faith in our parish and
archdiocese, if we have opinions about how things should be
done or how they could be improved, if we like or dislike
anything (and who doesn't) then this is our chance to say
so. Maybe we will help change things. Maybe we will
encourage good ideas. Maybe we will offer constructive
criticism to improve something. At least we will put in our
two cents worth.
While this will take a few extra moments, it should be
worth it. We hope everyone will participate seriously. Let
them hear what you are thinking.
Frs. Earl & Gilmary
PREPARING FOR THE MILLENNIUM
1998 is the second of a three year program to prepare for
the Millennium, 2000 A.D. The focus of this year is the
Holy Spirit and the recommended activity is reading the
Acts of the Apostles, the "Gospel of the Holy Spirit."
Copies of the Acts are available in the back of church.
Take a copy home with you and resolve to read from it each
day in preparation for the great anniversary of our faith,
the third millennium of Christianity, 2000 A.D.
ARCHDIOCESAN STRATEGIC PLANNING
The Archdiocese is beginning a process of strategic planning
for parishes, as mentioned above. The initial meeting for
all parishes will be this Wednesday, January 28, at
America's Center in downtown St. Louis. Anyone who is
interested in being part of this process which will effect
the future of our parish please contact Fr. Earl.
I.C. TOMORROW
Last weekend we announced that we now have one million
dollars in our building fund. The estimated cost of the
total project is $2,400,000. When we have $1,200,000 we
will apply for a matching loan from the archdiocese and
request bids. If our campaign continues at the present rate
we could reach this goal before too long and begin
construction this summer or early fall.
