FRIAR'S MIND

What will our parish be like in ten years? No one can answer such a question with absolute certainty. But we can plan for the future, set our priorities and avoid being the victims of fate, unprepared for even foreseeable needs.

A timely example of such planning is our new parish center. The planning and vision of a few energetic people has brought us to the point where this dream will be a reality in only a short time. With a new parish center, will be able to meet many of even the unforseen needs of the future. If we had not begun such a program three years ago, the future of our parish would be less promising.

The Archdiocese has begun a process of strategic planning for all parishes. The initial step in this process is to survey all the Catholics of the archdiocese on a wide range of topics concerning the life of each parish. These survey will be completed at all the Masses this weekend. Please take the time to answer each of the questions as thoughtfully and honestly as you can. If you are not sufficiently informed on a particular topic you may mark NA.

The results of these surveys will be reported to each parish in March, along with a general report for the whole archdiocese. That could make interesting reading!

Frs. Earl & Gilmary

PREPARING FOR THE MILLENNIUM

The focus of 1998, the second of a three year preparation for the Millennium is the Holy Spirit. The recommended activity is reading the Acts of the Apostles, the "Gospel of the Holy Spirit." Copies of the Acts are in the back of church. Take a copy home with you and read from it each day in preparation for the great anniversary of our faith, the third millennium of Christianity, 2000 A.D.
