FRIAR'S MIND

A CHANCE TO BE HEARD

The Archdiocese is offering parishioners an opportunity to be heard on two important issues: Vocations and Catholic Schools.

NATIONAL RELIGIOUS VOCATION CONFERENCE

Two listening session will be held for parents to express their reasons for encouraging or discouraging priesthood and religious life as a vocation option for their children. These sessions will be from 7:OO- 9:00 pm on Tuesday, March 10, at All Saints Church in Saint Peters, and on Wednesday, March 11, at Visitation Academy in Town and Country. Participants should be practicing Catholics, active in their parish, who can articulate their understanding of priesthood and religious life. If you are interested, please contact Fr. John (296-9689).

NEW PARTNERSHIP FOR CATHOLIC SCHOOLS

The heart of the Archbishops New Partnership for Schools will be a committee composed of ten Catholic elementary school teachers and ten other representatives, including parents, parishioners and pastors. The teachers will be elected by their peers; the other ten will be selected from nominations. You may nominate yourself or any other practicing Catholic who meets the following criteria: committed to Catholic education; some knowledge of parish finances; experience in parish or school committees; and willing to devote the necessary time and energy. If you are interested in serving on this committee or would like to nominate some other parishioner, please contact Fr. Earl, Fr. Gilmary, or any member of the parish council.

Our parish should be heard on these issues. We surely have parishioners who can make a contribution to these discussions. Immaculate Conception is one of the oldest parishes and possibly the oldest Catholic school. of the archdiocese. It would be a shame if we were not heard from.

Frs. Earl & Gilmary

ANOINTING OF THE SICK

SUNDAY, MARCH 15

The Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick will be given on Sunday, March 15, at the 11:30 am Mass. Those who are seriously or chronically ill, as well as anyone who feels grave weakness of advanced age, are invited to receive this Sacrament. We will need volunteers to help with those who need transportation. If you need transportation, or are willing to provide a ride for someone, please call the parish office.

LENTEN PRAYER BOOKLETS

Lenten booklets, "Praying the Promises," are available in the back of church. Lenten copies of "The Word Among Us" are also available.

EUCHARISTIC ADORATION

Eucharistic adoration will begin after the 8:00 am Mass this Friday, March 6, until 7:00 am Saturday. You can sign up for an hour in the booklet in the back of church or call T. Heisserer at 464-5794.

NEW PARISH CENTER COMMITTEE

The committee for the new parish center met this past Tuesday with the architects to further refine the plans. We are getting down to the details of the building and its furnishings. Your suggestions and concerns are always welcome.
