IMMACULATE CONCEPTION BULLETIN
March 30, 1997
FRIARS' MIND
The following Easter reflection on the Resurrection is taken
from The Catechism of the Catholic Church. (Catechism
paragraph number)
"The Resurrection of Jesus is the crowning truth of our
faith in Christ, a faith believed and lived as the central
truth by the first Christian community; handed on as
fundamental by Tradition; established by the documents of
the New Testament; and preached as an essential part of the
Paschal mystery along with the cross." (638)
"The mystery of Christ's resurrection is a real event, with
manifestations that were historically verified, as the New
Testament bears witness. About 56 A.D. St Paul wrote
'Christ died for our sins, was buried and was raised on the
third day in accordance with the scriptures, and he appeared
to Cephas then to the Twelve.'" 1 Cor 15:3-4 (639)
"Mary Magdalene and the holy women who came to finish
anointing the body of Jesus were the first to encounter the
Risen One. Thus the women were the first messengers of
Christ's Resurrection for the apostles themselves. (641)
"Christ's Resurrection is an object of faith in that it is a
transcendent intervention of God himself in creation and
history. In it the three divine persons act together as
one, and manifest their own proper characteristics. The
Father's power "raised up" Christ his Son and by doing so
introduced his Son's humanity, including his body, into the
Trinity." (647)
"As the Son, Jesus effects his own Resurrection by virtue of
his divine power. 'I lay down my life, that I may take it
up again. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to
take it up again.' Jn 10:17 Jesus is revealed as 'Son of
God in power according to the Spirit of holiness by his
Resurrection from the dead.' Rom 1:3-4 Paul speaks of
God's power manifest through the working of the Spirit who
gave life to Jesus' dead humanity and called it to the
glorious state of Lordship." (648)
We are an Easter people and Alleluia is our song!

PRO-LIFE MEETING
Saturday, April 5 at 11 am in the Parish Center, up.
A LETTER FROM THE ARCHBISHOP
Dear Friends in Christ,
"The Lord has truly been raised and has appeared to
Simon." (Lk 24:34) These words were proclaimed by the
Apostles on the First Easter Sunday. Through all the
centuries the Church continues to proclaim that the Lord
Jesus has truly been raised from the dead, that he is living
in the communion of the Most Blessed Trinity with his Father
and the Holy Spirit, and that he is alive in the Church.
With the Apostles let us thank to God: "Praised be the
God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, he who in his great
mercy gave us new birth; a birth unto hope which draws its
life from the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."
To celebrate Easter means to be alive in Jesus Christ our
Risen Lord. To all of you, a blessed Easter in his Name.!
Sincerely in Christ,
+Justin Rigali
Archbishop of St. Louis
