FRIARS' MIND

There are many good reasons why every Catholic should be a part of the Archdiocesan Development Appeal (ADA).
Here are just a few.

The ADA is the Catholic "United Way" of St. Louis. So often we feel that our church should be doing something about our pressing social problems, to help the many who are in need and to promote good causes in our community. What is our church doing? Through the ADA we are making a difference. Your gift to the ADA benefits over one-half million people through hundreds of charitable, educational and emergency programs.

Through the ADA we can do together what we cannot do individually.
So often we feel that our small gift is insignificant in the face of such large problems. By joining with others we form a large and powerful resource to make a real difference. In 1996 the ADA contributed more than eight million dollars toward the betterment of our community! So give something, regardless of how small it may seem to you. It will be part of a program that does make a difference.

The ADA is a very efficient charity.
The ADA has one of the highest efficiency records of any charity. It has a very low administrative cost. More than ninety percent of what is received actually ends up in the hands of the needy. Few charities have such a record. Your dollar for charity goes much further through the ADA.

Your gift to the ADA enriches you.
Your gift to the ADA not only helps the needy, but enriches you. As Mother Teresa says, "The poor do not need us as much as we need the poor." Charity is not only giving, it is receiving.

If you are tempted to skip the ADA, pause and consider. For just the price of dining out, a visit to the beauty parlor, a trip to the movies, you could be part of the Catholic "United Way" which makes a difference in the lives of thousands and enriches everyone who participates.
