FRIAR'S MIND

Today is the kick-off for "Returning God's Gifts, Sharing our Hope" which is the Capital Campaign of the Archdiocese. The purpose of this campaign is to endow the programs of the archdiocese to ensure an effective future of the Catholic church in St. Louis.

The areas to be endowed are: Catholic Education, Viability of Parishes, Retirement of Archdiocesan priests, Seminary Education and the Cathedral of St. Louis. The gifts received through this campaign will create a fund where the principal will remain untouched. Only the income earned through its investments will be used for the needs of the programs mentioned above. This is an opportunity to make a gift to the church which will keep on giving well after your commitment is fulfilled.

The campaign video Returning God's Gifts, Sharing our Hope will be shown at all Masses throughout the archdiocese this weekend. Each parish has organized a leadership team to direct parish volunteers to conduct the campaign in the local parish. The following have generously and graciously agreed to serve as our parish leadership team: Ken Atzert, Chairman; Charles Carnago, Advanced Gifts; Evelyn Timmerman, Secretary; and Deacon Joe Streckfuss, Recruitment Director. They will need your help; they appreciate your cooperation.

In the weeks ahead you will be hearing more about the campaign here in the parish bulletin, in The St. Louis Review, and in church announcements. Everyone in the parish will be contacted and invited to be part of this campaign. We will need volunteers to help organize the campaign and your commitment in a pledge over the next three years.

This campaign is a reminder of our part in the larger church and our need to share its vision for the future of the church, which is our future.

NEW PARISH CENTER PLANNING

Representatives of the Building Committee for the New Parish Center, along with the pastor and the architects, will meet with the archdiocesan building commission later this month. A diagram of the proposed building will then be in the Sunday bulletin for your review. Please study this proposal seriously and offer your concerns and suggestions. We are coming to the final version of our plans.
