IMMACULATE CONCEPTION BULLETIN
August 17, 1997
FRIAR'S MIND
Convert instructions will begin in our parish on the
last Monday of September. After that date, the candidates
will meet each Monday until Easter. This program is called
the catechumenate.
If you know of anyone who may be interested in the
Catholic faith, invite him to come to the catechumenate. Or
give us this person's name and address, and we will send an
invitation.
The best thing you can do, of course, is to bring your
friend to the meeting on September 29. Prospective converts
are naturally a bit hesitant and shy, wondering what these
Catholics are up to.
We welcome any Catholic who wishes to review basic
theology and the catechism, and especially to understand
changes that have taken place in the Church. These
Catholics actually help the converts by their presence,
their questions, and their discussions. And some of the
converts will be looking for sponsors. Catholics attending
these classes often turn out to be ideal sponsors.

SHARING OUR HOPE
Last week the $55,000,000 endowment campaign for the
Archdiocese of St. Louis was announced with the video,
"Returning God's Gifts, Sharing Our Hope." This endowment
is to ensure the stability of Catholic education, parish
viability, seminary education and priest retirement. Each
parish has an assigned target as its share of the overall
goal, and each parish will receive ten percent of what is
raised in that parish as a beginning of its own endowment.
