FRIAR'S MIND

You notice the Sharing Tree is back. It's a little late this year, but it may be more convenient than in the past, because it will not require shopping time on your part. And it can be just as helpful for those families who receive gifts from you. This year you need only place money in the box and a bow on the tree. Santa will take care of everything else.

The Sharing Tree has always been an extraordinary success in our parish. It has been an outstanding sign of your willingness to help others. And gifts in the past have not been little or insignificant. So we hope that this year again many needy families will have a better Christmas because you care.

You are frequently asked to help. Here's another request. This Sunday afternoon, December 21, we will set up the manger in church and the Christmas trees. We need strong men for the heavy lifting and carrying. This will be at 2:00 p.m. Because of baptisms we cannot begin before 2:00 p.m. Deacon Joe Streckfuss is in charge; he would appreciate your help.

At the same time, packets for the blessing of homes on Epiphany Sunday will be prepared. Confirmation candidates who need hours are very good at this. We hope to see a lot of them on Sunday afternoon.

The final decoration with Christmas flowers will be done Tuesday morning at 9:00 a.m. Men, generally speaking, have no talent for this. If any women would like to help, they are welcome. Coffee served for volunteers in the friary before work.

Frs. Earl & Gilmary

FINAL WEEKEND

FOR THE SHARING TREE

This is the final weekend for this year's Sharing Tree. There is a box for cash or check donations under the tree. We ask that you contribute the amount you generally would spend on a Christmas gift for the needy. This money will purchase gift certificates for needy families. For every $5.00 donated, you may tie one of the red bows on the tree. Our generous parish can fill the tree with red bows.

CHRISTMAS MEMORIAL PLANTS

You can help beautify our Church for Christmas by donating poinsettias in memory of your dear departed. A donation of $7.00 for a small plant and/or $10.00 for the large plant. One name per plant, please. Forms should be returned to the Friary as soon as possible. Name of Person(s) to be memorialized (please print):
