FRIAR'S MIND

Here is one last look at 1997 in our parish before we turn the page and begin the Year of Our Lord 1998.

JAN - Beginning of the first year of a three year preparation for the millennium.

FEB - Our Parish establishes its Web Site on the Internet at WWW.Catholic-Forum.com

MAR - Pilgrimage Sunday to the church of one's baptism as preparation for the millennium.

APR - Ten Catechumens received into the church at the Easter Vigil

MAY - 112 Children receive First Solemn Communion; 64 confirmed at the Cathedral.

JUN - Fr. John Schmeidler is ordained a priest at St. Joseph Parish, Hays, Kansas.

JUL - 150th Anniversary of the Archdiocese of St. Louis; Parish Picnic a "red hot" success.

AUG - "I.C. Tomorrow" campaign reaches the half- million dollar mark in pledges received!

SEP - Archdiocesan Endowment Campaign, "Returning God's Gifts, Sharing Our Hope."

OCT - "Vocation Cross" visits our parish for a Day of Prayer for Vocations. St. Francis Day.

NOV - Pro-Life Banquet, Thanksgiving, Advent Begins

DEC - Parish Council Elections, Sodality Cookie Sale, Catholic Knights Advent Breakfasts.

We thank God for the blessings of this past year and ask his guidance on our efforts in 1998. Happy New Year!

THE SHARING TREE THANKS YOU

THE STEPHAN MINISTRY

The Stephan Ministry is a lay ministry of Caring. Candidates learn skills and develop talents for bringing Christ's healing love to people who are grieving, depressed, or experiencing other stresses. The Pastoral Care Department of St. Anthony's Medical Center will begin training on February 5, 1998. If you feel called to this ministry, call 525-1999 and ask for Ken Jacobs or Rita McShea.

I.C. MEN'S WEEKEND RETREAT

The Men's weekend retreat will be on the weekend of January 30, concluding Sunday afternoon, February 1, 1998.
