Welcome to Our Lady of the Presentation Parish on the Web
Our Lady of the Presentation Parish is a multi-ethnic, multi-economic Catholic community in north central St. Louis County Missouri. It is located immediately south of St. Louis International Airport with the general boundaries being: Interstate 70 on the north, Interstate 170 on the east, Page Avenue on the south, and Woodson Road on the west.
The parish community emphasizes the need to be challenged in worship, in service and in education so that we may progress on our journey of faith.
In worship, we challenge ourselves by constantly striving to celebrate the sacraments in the fullest expression possible. One of the ways we carry this out in our worship is by celebrating all baptisms in the context of regularly scheduled community Eucharists with a vast majority of the baptized entering into flowing water. Another way is to offer and encourage everyone participating in the celebration of all Eucharists to receive communion in the fullness of both the Body and Blood of Christ.
In service, we challenge ourselves to bring into reality, in as many ways as possible, the call of every member, both laity and clergy, to serve our brothers and sisters. One of the ways we carry out our service is for members of the parish community to join in the celebration of all funeral liturgies and to support the bereaved with song, prayer and a ministry of presence. Another way is for the elderly and those who have no way to come to the church to be offered the opportunity to be brought to the celebration of Eucharist on Sunday by teams of volunteers.
In education, we challenge ourselves to strive beyond what is adequate and acceptable to that which is superior and exceptional. In that light, the Elementary School of Our Lady of the Presentation was the first Catholic school in the state of Missouri to adopt an "extended learning" calendar (sometimes called year round school). This calendar provides educational programs and/or child care for every weekday of the year except for six major holidays.
The Gospel of Luke tells us, " take nothing for the journey, neither walking stick, nor sack, nor food, nor money". Our parish community has begun the journey it is presently on with few resources, for we are neither wealthy nor large. We are, however, people of courage, imagination and, most of all, faith. We seek to follow the way of the Lord no matter where it may lead.
Thank you for visiting us on the Internet. We hope that in the future you may visit us in person.
