School News
The end of the calendar year means tax time for all of us--not a
very pleasant thought, but one we can't avoid. Please keep in mind that
any contributions made to Mary, Help of Christians Church or School are
fully tax deductible (excluding tuition). Parishioners and school parents
are encouraged to donate to the Adopt-A-Student Program and the Information
Technology Plan (ITP). The Adopt-A-Student program helps to cover tuition
costs by assisting families in need (materials are available at the School
Office).
Parent-Teacher Conferences November 24 & 25.
THE CAMPAIGN FOR HUMAN DEVELOPMENT
HOPE...It's Yours to Give....
Next weekend we participate in the special collection for the Campaign for
Human Development. For more than 27 years, this initiative of the Catholic
Church has worked to address the root causes of poverty. The Campaign has
funded thousands of projects that have empowered people to work together to
solve community problems, create jobs, and build affordable housing. The
Campaign for Human Development gives us an opportunity to respond to the
Gospel's call to solidarity with the poor. Hope...It's yours to give.
Please give generously.

THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY OF THE YEAR
1) Daniel 12, 1-3
2) Hebrews 10, 11-14. 18
3) Mark 13, 24-32
There has never been a shortage of people willing to tell you that the
world is coming to an end. Generally the signs of the last day seem pretty
calamitous: "It shall be a time unsurpassed in distress..." (1), "during
that period after trials of every sort the sun will be darkened..." (3).
Strangely, it is this "end of everything" that we are looking forward to.
It is not a time of fear which we should dread, but a time of fulfillment
which we should hope for--that is we should hope for it if we have lived as
we ought. The signs of the last days for true believers will be marked by
our approach to the will of God in our own lives. Jesus fulfillment looked
to all the world like the death of a criminal on a cross. It was, however,
the dawn of resurrection and new life for us all.
Next Sunday's readings will be: 1)Daniel 7, 13-14; 2)Revelation 1, 5-
8; 3)John 18, 33-37.

Preparing for the Jubilee Year 2000
"It was not you who chose me, but I who chose you and appointed
you to go and bear fruit that will remain, so that whatever you ask the
Father in my name he may give you." (Jn 15:16)
How productive am I (how much fruit do I bear) in living my faith? What
positive difference do I make in my family, neighborhood, workplace, civic
