NEW CHURCH ROOFING UNDERWAY...
The days of water dripping into the church with every heavy rain or snow
should soon be over. A new roof is now being installed. The color will be
white -- the original color of the roof -- which will help in summer time
energy saving. We did not think that we would be able to afford this
during this fiscal year, but the generosity of the late C. Marie Humbarger,
who remembered us in her will, has made it possible. Remember her in your
prayers.
PARISH LIBRARY
The library is located in St. Francis Hall and is open on Sundays from
8:30 AM to 1:15 PM. There are books, audio and video tapes on many
subjects, including special ones for Teens and Children. Anyone interested

5303 or Pat Scanlon at 878-0461. We are currently looking for books on
"Advent" and "Lent".
Fr. John recently suggested a book that would be nice to have in our
Parish Library. "Lives of the Popes: The Pontiffs from St. Peter to
John Paul II" by Father Richard P. McBrien. Published by HarperCollins,
1997. The cost is $29.50. Is anyone interested in donating this book to
our library? A book donated in the name of a loved one makes a nice
Christmas gift for someone who has everything.

today, Sunday, December 21st and Sunday, December 28th. We will reopen
on January 4th, 1998. The library volunteers wish each of you a joyful

IF YOU'VE BEEN CONSIDERING HELP...
Seeking help when we need it is a sign of strength and good sense.
Professional counseling helps us to see our worries in constructive new
ways, leaving us free to solve our own problems. Sometimes that's the
difference between struggling with a concern or resolving it now. Catholic
Social Services of the Miami Valley offers professional, confidential
counseling for family, marital and personal concerns. Appointments are
currently available. For further information, contact the Centerville
office at 434-3802.
Merry Christmas
FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT
1) Micah 5, 1-4
2) Hebrews 10, 5-10
3) Luke 1, 39-45
"I can't do anything. I'm too: a)small; b)unimportant; c)poor; d)dumb;
e)other." We are often ready with excuses but slow with faith. "Blessed
is she who trusted that the Lord's words to her would be fulfilled." (3)
Mary never questioned God's will for her. She trusted that God would
provide whatever she needed to accomplish his word. Bethlehem-Ephrathah
was a small town with little to recommend it(1), and yet, from it came the
savior of the world. Stewardship of the time, talent and treasure that God
has given us is not a hedge against the future -- it is an opportunity to
say with Jesus "I have come to do your will, O God."(2)
Next Sunday's readings will be: 1)Sirach 3, 2-6. 12-14; 2)Colossians
3, 12-21; 3)Luke 2, 41-52.
