Some Ideas for Lent
Here we are already. The word "Lent" means springtime, because the Church times
Easter to go with the renewal of light and life that comes with spring. We are
part of all nature as we "spring" back to life-that is, if we enter into it. The
flowers, trees, and grass will all come into new life automatically, by their
nature. For us it takes a bit more work, conscious choices to lay aside ways
that are hurtful or counter-productive, and to live-to enjoy true life with
each other and our God.
Do whatever it takes. The Church's regulations have been minimized, not to let
us off easy, but because you alone know what you need to do, to change, to let
go of, or to take up. Prayer-charity-self-denial; some combination of these is
the classic formula for a good Lent. Let's go!
PARISH MISSIONS
Please pray to the Holy Spirit for the success of the Parish Mission at St. Pius
V. Fr. Dave Polek, Redemptorist, will preach the Masses the weekend of March 7-8
and will offer evening presentations March 8-12 at 7:30 p.m. If you are
interested, please join us.
On Thursdays of Lent, St. Anthony's will host a parish mission, "THE WORKING OF
THE HOLY SPIRIT" 7p.m. Mass will be celebrated by one of the bishops. March 5
- Archbishop Rigali. 12 - Bishop Braxton. 19 - Bishop Sheridan. March 26 -
Bishop Naumann. Concludes with the sacrament of Penance.
IN MEMORIUM: Parish Help has indeed lost a good friend in Olivia Foederer.
Olivia was a volunteer for many years. When we had our "HOLIDAY DINNERS" she was
always there till the last meal was served. She carried many a full bag of
groceries from our red wagon, was a regular contributor and kept Parish Help in
her daily prayers. She lover her God and His Blessed Mother above all things.
We will certainly miss her.
FOOD FACTS: St. Louis area food bank is just about out of Scout-food. Their
food "HOT LINE" gives us very little to order from as we approach the Spring &
Summer season we will be running out of food. Please remember our "RED WAGON"
and contribution envelopes.
FOOD NEEDED: jelly, cold cereal, canned spaghetti with meat, canned meat,
canned fruit, tuna & hamburger helper, tuna, canned peas, deodorant, bathroom
tissue, tooth paste, children cough syrup, cookies & candy.

C-4 DELIVERS VALENTINES
The week of February 14th , members of C-4 mailed, or hand-delivered, well over
100 Valentines (produced by Fr. Tom on his trusty computer) to the business in
our area. We want our business people to know that we're glad they're in the
area. The best way to do this is to patronize them. And when you do, let them
know you appreciate their being here!
