A Lenten Journey of Love

from the Pastor's Pen

Our "Mega-Meeting" last Monday was a great success. 33 parish leaders gathered with the priests to fill out sections of our Parish Review, a self-evaluation. The questions ranged over every aspect of our parish's life, and some things we don't have yet or could improve. It was exciting for me to see parishioners looking at all this, giving high marks to the parish staff and membership while pointing out things we all could do better. Now that I think of it, this meeting seems like a perfect example for what to do in Lent for us all. We are to look at ourselves, and be glad about the positive things we see. And we are not to shrink from seeing our weaknesses, the ways in which we are not all we're called to be. In fact, our personal weaknesses have a lot to do with what may be wrong or defective with our family, community, parish, and other structures. The parish has taken a big step to take stock of ourselves and open our areas for growth as we pat ourselves on the back a bit. Can we each do the same?

WHY I VOLUNTEER!"I am very thankful for the help we received from St. Vincent de Paul and the Salvation Army during several years of Depression. Because of that I'm trying to give back to the community by volunteering at Parish Help, hoping to help the needy in some small way."
FAITH, HOPE AND TRUST is a way of life to Parish Help. Faith in Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, Hope that we can continue to ease this hunger and burdens in those we serve. Trust that Our Lord will continue to bless our humble efforts. Please pray for us.
FOOD NEEDED: jelly, cold cereal, canned spaghetti with meat, canned meat, canned fruit, tuna & hamburger helper, tuna, canned peas, deodorant, bathroom tissue, tooth paste, children cough syrup, cookies & candy.
