BINGO REPORT

After four weeks of our bingo at Kolping House, the weekly committee members and the volunteer team workers are getting more organized in their duties. Our crowd is starting to build. Though it was not expected that the nights would make money right away, two of the nights have run at a small profit. The parent teams have been cooperative in their service, and some good connections have already come from working together. At this time, one of the only key needs we have is for experienced callers, who would call for one half only if desired (2 hrs.) every 5 or 6 weeks.

Remember

Have you been yet to Resurrection's Bingo at Kolping House? Doors open at 4:30, Bingo starts at 6:30pm. Parishioners and non-parishioners alike have been very favorable, and proceeds go to our church and school. Large non-smoking level.

from the Pastor's Pen

Jesus' message from Sunday seems worth recapping. He warns those who wonder if he's doing the devil's work that Satan is really together-the source of evil would never battle against himself, but sees that his forces are always lined up together with him. This becomes a warning for us: are we lined up together? Do we have our forces of good and love as unified as Satan has his? This is a highly contentious age-we love a good argument, and political or ideological differences have been hurting the Church as much as any other organization. In addition, we seem highly protective about what others say about us or our families. Maybe Satan in this way gets in and disrupts our unity as Christians, if we are not vigilant. Can we presume that all members of Resurrection are good people, who may at times say or do thoughtless or hurtful things? When these things happen-as they will-can we reach for the deeper things we have in common: our faith, our love for the Lord and for our community? If not, it seems that Satan has won-his unity and single-mindedness has taken advantage of our weakness. Our unity in love and faith must be stronger than the things that can threaten this unity.
As a pastor, or shepherd, I care very much that we respect what we share in common enough to make it through hurtful or disruptive times.
Happy Feast Day Friday to our neighbor and one of our mother churches, St. Anthony of Padua.
Next week: Summer for a Catholic Christian.

SCHOOL'S OUT this means Parish Help will be asked to meet the nutrition needs of children who don't receive supplement meals during the summer vacation. Summer is demanding time for our pantry because donations of food and money go down and we have a 40% increase in hungry children.

FANS NEEDED hot weather is here and we have no fans for our clients. We are asking for box fans, used fans in good condition, or donations to buy fans.

PARISH HELP'S PICNIC IN THE PARK When: June 19th Time: 4:30pm till sundown. Where: Tower Grove Park - HUMBOLT NORTH (east of bandstand). For our volunteers and friends of Parish Help. Call Jane for a ride.

WISH LIST: Can Tuna, Spaghetti with meat, Spaghetti sauce, Peas, Fruit, Spam or Treat, Cold Cereal, Dish Detergent, washing powder, deodo rant, toilet tissue, soap.

Look at This

We are in the process of updating our annual Guide Book and Directory for the Church. This book helps us all to know more about our church-- the "who, what, where, when, why, and how of our Church." The book is being provided at no cost, including the mailing to each family, and is again is being subsidized by local businesses who advertise in it. If you own or manage a business and want to help by advertising in the book, please call the church office. Recent surveys show that 92.1% of families would rather patronize our Guide Book and Directory advertisers over a non-advertiser. It does pay to advertise in our Guide Book and Directory.

THANK YOU for all your prayers and support during my stay in the hospital. The John Unger Family.
