Congratulations

We would like to congratulate Fr. Jim Mitulski on his 25th Anniversary as a priest this year.

Rest in Peace

In your charity, please pray for the repose of the soul of MSGR. GEORGE KURTZ who served this parish years ago. May his soul rest in peace.

ADA

We are happy to report that Resurrection made its goal for the ADA collection of just over $15,000. We have many generous regular givers, and this year also a number of first-time givers. This is an important way we take part in the life of the whole archdiocese. Thanks go to Sam Antonacci, our chairman for several years now; and to all who worked at church or visiting homes for the pledges.

from the Pastor's Pen

I need a retreat.

I don't mean my own personal retreat, which I always look forward to. I mean the Parish Renewal Retreats, the first of which was held in April. I already miss the spirit of prayer, fun, and unity around our Catholic faith that was so evident that weekend. It made sense out of the idea of a parish, and gave meaning to all the things we try to do here. There are so many issues and efforts involved in being in a parish together, and the spirit of controversy, selfishness, or just apathy can creep in easily. The participants on the retreat-myself included-found a way to overcome differences of age, personality, or state in life, and to truly enjoy being in this parish together. I would really like to see more of us have this experience. Keep thinking about this possibility; another retreat will be offered in the fall.

We finally have what seems like a definite time for the installation of the new stone sign on the church lawn. It is being finished now in Indiana, and is scheduled for delivery July 14. It may well be a 2-day job; we will let you know more details as they come out.

NOTICE

There will be no 1st Saturday pastries and coffee or Parish Help Meeting on July 5th.

A GOOD TIME WAS HAD BY ALL

Our annual picnic in Tower Grove Park was a great success. Even the weather cooperated with a wonderful breeze. Great food, friendly conversation, silly games and Fr. Argent & Fr. Jim's presence made for a fun evening.

THE HEAT IS ON and our requests for fans is overwhelming. As soon as a fan is donated or donations are given & we buy the fans they are gone. Can you help with a box fan, a window fan or donations? Please! It's heck to be hot.

OUCH! Our food supply is dwindling rapidly (as is the norm in summer). Remember Red Wagon in the back of church and place your donations in it. Many thanks!

WISH LIST: tuna, canned pasta, luncheon meat, fruit, peas, string beans, mac & cheese, kool-ade, lemonade, cookies, deodorant, t-tissue, dish detergent.
