We appreciate many who have congratulated Fr. Jim on his 25th Anniversary of Ordination to the Priesthood. The parish discussed a reception for the occasion, but Fr. Jim chose to defer this to a later date when he is more settled. In the meantime please continue to mark this important occasion in your own way.

Vacation Time

I wonder if our young people realize how important they are. Several things have brought this out to me lately. For one, recently I officiated at the wedding of my nephew, the first of this new generation of our family. Seeing Jeff in a tux, remembering him as an infant and the stages in between, seeing him now at the age his parents were when they were married-the reality of this generation taking up their place in our world struck me. Jeff is a great guy, with at least as much on the ball as those who raised him. It gives me hope for the new ages to come.
Secondly, while I was away Ray Hoeflinger Sr. passed away. Priests say of such a parishioner, like others who have passed away lately, "you don't replace such people." It's kind of a lament that we don't see many people coming up in parishes with the kind of faith and longstanding church service and support of people like Ray, his wife Grace, and so many of our longtime members. But in fact there are such younger people here at Resurrection who are giving their time and service generously; I hope they know they are the pillars of today and tomorrow.
Also, some current activities here center on our youth. Sr. Carol is planning a float trip again; last year I went on the first one with Sister and 3 teens. We hope for a bigger trip this year. Fr. Jim and I are planning to go. And Fr. Jim, Mrs. Ziolkowski and Sr. Rene are working through the summer with the Confirmation candidates. All these things tie together our young people, teens and young adults, with the parish and the church. They are not just important for our future; they are important today. And many of them seem well qualified to be our future leaders and servants.

REPEATING OUR PLEA AGAIN!! THE HEAT IS ON and our requests for fans are overwhelming. As soon as a fan is donated or donations are given and we buy the fans they are gone. Can you help with a box fan, a window fan or donations? Please It's heck to be hot.
HELP FIGHT HUNGER-and join the Post cereal company to celebrate it's 100th anniversary by donating a bag of food found in last Sunday's paper to our pantry or any AMC theater-the St. Louis Area Food Banks will donate this collection to all Area pantries.
