Next Week, we need to step up our efforts and continue toward our goal of visiting every household in Resurrection Parish for Returning God's Gifts. To do this, and to continue our early success, we need your help. By telephone this week, and at all Masses next weekend, we will ask you to participate as a campaign visitor. If you have joined us in other parish efforts, please volunteer again. If you have never volunteered for anything in connection with our parish, please help when called to do so. Our Campaign Chairperson James Metzler, Campaign Secretary, JoAnn McTigue and others who need your help. Next week, in the pews throughout the church, you will see "Yes I Volunteer! cards. Please fill out and return to the ushers. We need your help to make this campaign a success.

from the Pastor's Pen

Some people have said for years that I was dizzy and off-balance. Last week they were right as I had a bout of severe vertigo, from an inner-ear problem. After a couple of days laid up, I got around more by the end of the week for our start-of-school activities. It seems to have pretty much cleared up by now. Thanks for your prayers and concern.
Our school is very exciting this year! We see our own children growing up, and new children from around our neighborhood-and this year, we again had a family arrive from Bosnia, by way of Germany. Our kids are again ambassadors for our Catholic parish and in helping new families settle in. Our enrollment is actually slightly up from last year. Our faculty is especially interesting this year, with extensive teaching experience and unique gifts. I believe the school is one of the most exciting things about our parish this year, and shows the directions we can go in. As always, we are very indebted to so many of our faithful parishioners who are not sending children to the school, but who recognize how important their support of the church is to keep it going. The school is fulfilling many of the roles we are to do as a parish in teaching about Jesus and passing on our faith.
We're in a traditionally busy time of year now, not only with school but with other adult programs we will be highlighting soon. The archdiocesan Returning God's Gifts campaign is one big thing to accomplish the next few weeks. Let's join together and give the Lord his due in all things!

WORKERS NEEDED

Our school parents are pitching in to do a great job for much of the work of our weekly Bingo at Kolping House. We could use several more volunteers from our other parishioners who can help on a rotating basis, even every other week if desired. Please call and leave your name at the rectory.

(tlh95)left inside All volunteers and board members are encouraged to attend the monthly meeting Saturday, Sept. 6th at 9:00 am in the cafeteria.
SATURDAY MORNING COFFEEKLATCH Enjoy a steaming cup of coffee, pastries & your neighbor's company at the First Saturday Coffeeklatch held after the 8 am Mass on Sept.6.
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP We extend a special thanks to all those who responded to our heat alert by donating fans and funds. It's been a long tough summer!
FINALLY, AT LAST, WE HOPE, the terrible heat of this past summer has left us. But not our constant need for food. With government cuts in Food Stamps, Medicare & Medicaid, the WIC Program for babies and small children, and many jobs only paying minimum wages, the demands on our food pantry are increasing. We hope you will continue to support us as you have so generously in the past.
FOOD ITEMS NEEDED canned meat, tuna, pasta, fruit, string beans, pork & beans, corn, peas, cold cereal, mac & cheese, peanut butter & jelly, white rice, hamburger & tuna helper, koolaid, lemonade and tea, dish detergent.
