RETURNING GOD'S GIFT CAMPAIGN UPDATE Returning God's Gifts visitors have been busy seeking many parishioners regarding the campaign. On behalf of the Archdiocese and the parish, thank you for inviting the visitors into your homes and for being so generous. Response to the campaign has been great!! To date our parish has received 12 gifts for a total of $39,945 which is 48% of our parish target!!

PARISH RENEWAL RETREATS ARE COMING

Where?? The retreat will take place entirely in our school building, in Meramec Hall and the cafeteria. This is a "commuter" retreat-from Friday night to Sunday afternoon, sessions and meals are held up here, and participants go home to sleep. Our scheduled dates are November 7-9.
Why?? In these days when our lives are filled with so many competing things, these weekends allow us to remember what is truly important. From our own past experience at Resurrection, and from other parishes doing them recently, these retreats are experiences that have a lasting effect to be closer to our parish and get much more inspiration and strength our of our lives as Catholics.

SignUp-will be next weekend after the Masses.

INTERESTED IN BECOMING CATHOLIC?

Our ongoing effort to introduce new adults into the Catholic Church through the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA)will begin this Tuesday, Sept. 30, at 8 p.m., Meramec Hall. These early sessions do not require a commitment or decision yet; they are geared for "seekers". Catholics who wish an updating on your faith are welcome also. Please let anyone you know in our area who may be interested-plan to accompany them if possible.

Remember!
the date for...

Fr. Jim's 25th Anniversary Celebration Sunday, Oct. 12, at the 11 a.m. Mass and following.

St. Louis area food pantries, shelters for the homeless and soup kitchens are asking residents to give a LITTLE EXTRA this fall to meet the increased demand for food by families hampered by low wages and hurt by welfare reform. Area food pantries report a 20% increase in the demand for food. The area Food bank is expecting October to be a very tight month for pantries. (Source: St. Louis Post Dispatch, 9/21/97)

It seems that everywhere we turn, we're being asked to donate to worthy causes, but our incomes only stretch so far. If every parishioner would donate one edible food item a week, we could keep our door open. We are extremely grateful to our faithful donors & keep you in our prayers.

Food Items Needed: canned meat, pasta with meat, vegetables, pasta sauce, tuna, peanut butter, fruit, cookies, dish detergent, washing powder, tooth paste.
