from the Pastor's Pen

Wow! September, as usual, had so much activity, the rectory office has been buzzing. The start of school, C-4 activities, Blood Drive, Life Chain and other community functions, the retreat, all intersected throughout these weeks. We were hit with a lot as we came to church this month, and your patience is appreciated as so many things deserve our consideration. We are an active parish, trying to offer our people the ways of involvement in the parish and the community that present themselves. A role often underappreciated in coordinating all this is the Parish Council. Little goes on around here that has not first been considered and approved for the parish by the Council; additionally, some things originate from the Council's vision, like the retreats and follow-up prayer groups. A pastor these days-including this pastor-does not come up with things or set priorities alone; a group whose collective wisdom is available on the full range of the parish's activities-spiritual, social, financial-is essential. For some time now Michele Bolin, Joe Bilger, Sr. Carol, Ollie Wunderlich, and Cathy Bean have served on our Council and have been invaluable to me and to the Parish. They are also available for input from you anytime.
