from the Pastor's Pen

This is my third Christmas at Resurrection, in the two years I've been here. Each year the feast brings us new things and remembrances both personal and public. My family will miss my father as part of the holiday this year. In the parish, there have been some good accomplishments, some wonderful new faces; and there have also been some heartaches and disappointments. The amazing thing is that God will surely come into this situation, again, at Christmastime, and in fact already has come into our world at the first Nativity. We must have hope! Even in oursituation, whatever that may be.
As to our parish, it is my hope that we will continue to ring out the news of our hope and joy to our surrounding neighborhood. As the word "angel" (or "angelus" in Latin) means "announcer," our faith and hope should be a sound that goes out to all we reach. If we all pitch in to live our Christian lives fervently, and find ways to let it be seen and heard, our parish will grow in its appeal to those who are looking for hope.

SHARE YOUR CHRISTMAS DINNER. Consider sharing your Christmas Dinner with a homebound neighbor. Parish Help will put you in touch with someone who would appreciate receiving a holiday dinner. Call Nancy 664-0877 (evenings) or Doris 481-4083 for more details or sign-up in the back of church.

WE WELCOME DONATED HAMS 7 TURKEYS. PICK-UPS AVAILABLE.
We need drivers and runners to help deliver Christmas baskets after the 11am Mass. Come to Parish Help Office.

WE ARE OVERWHELMED! Thank you to Dot & Dan Kirner who donated over 1600lbs of food to Parish Help from their 25th Ward Christmas party, to our special "angel" Mrs. B. for all the hams, to Frank Bommarito for all the turkeys and to our parishioners for turkeys, hams & donations. God has surly blessed us with your generosity which is being passed on to those in need.
P.S. Dan Kirner also donated a room full of brand new clothes with the price tags in tact - THANKS AGAIN.

WISHING YOU A BLESSED AND JOYOUS CHRISTMAS.
