PILGRIMAGE SUNDAY

The Holy Father has asked all Catholic Parishes to prepare for the Millenium (the year 2000) with a 3 year preparation program. The first year will focus on Jesus, the second on the Holy Spirit and the third on God the Father. This year we will be asked to re-commit ourselves to Jesus by making a pilgrimage to the Church of our baptism on Laetare Sunday, March 9. Prayer leaflets will be distributed ahead of time to enable people to express their thanks to Almighty God for the gift of baptism.

All parishes are asked to be available between the morning masses and throughout the afternoon until 5:00 pm to host pilgrims. Any person, who is unable to return to his/her Church of baptism because it is out of town or has been closed, is encouraged to visit one of the Cathedrals or any neighboring parish. Many families who have members baptized in several churches may decide to go to one Church on March 9th. You will find a flyer in todays bulletin giving a format of prayers to be said when you visit your Church of baptism.

Volunteers Needed

In order to prepare for our visiting pilgrims on Sunday, March 9 we will need the help of parishioners to welcome people back to MPB. Please call the rectory (487-6456) and let us know if you can help.
