Gift Bearers

Last Sunday Stephanie Welling from the Catholic Education Office explained the purpose of the Appeal and all the good that is accomplished with your generous gifts. The lives of many people have been and will be affected. All parishioners are urged to take advantage of the opportunity to make their pledges or contributions as you leave church after all masses this weekend and next. Three classrooms across the hall from Church will be available for this purpose. If your employer matches gifts bring an application with you. Credit cards may also be used. Volunteers will be asked to make 5 calls on ADA Sunday, May 4 to those who fail to sign their pledge cards. If you can help, call Lew Brennecke, 892-3986.

CALENDAR NIGHT

All organizations and committees are again reminded of calendar night Thursday, April 24 at 7:00 pm in the cafeteria. It is most important that everyone be present to put their dates down to reserve the facilities. We do not want to have duplications or conflicts.

PSR REGISTRATION

Registration for the PSR students for the 1997-1998 school year will take place this Monday, April 21st from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the cafeteria. Parents registering a child for the first time should bring a copy of the child's baptismal certificate. We ask the PSR parents to please register this Monday evening. This facilitates ordering of books and supplies.

PARISH COUNCIL MEETING

The next meeting of the Parish Council will be Monday, April 21 at 7:00 pm in the rectory meeting room. All liaisons are asked to have their reports ready from their organizations/boards. Please be sure to have the suggestions and/or priorities of future needs ready to report.

First Communion

Next weekend, April 27, we will welcome our second grade students from the Parish School and School of Religion to the Table of the Lord. Their parents and teachers have been working with the students for a long time to get ready for this special moment in their lives. Be sure to keep them in your prayers as we create this memory for them.

SECRETARY'S DAY

We wish to thank our parish secretary, Mrs. Marion Hebrank, and our school secretary, Mrs. Barb Kreuzkamp, for another year of faithful and dedicated service. These two women have served our families for decades. We owe them a debt of gratitude as we celebrate Secretary's Day this week.

USED TV WANTED

The Parish Help Committee is looking for a used TV, in working order, for a handicapped man they are working with. If you have a TV you would like to donate, please call the rectory, 487-6456.

NATIONAL DAY OF APPRECIATION

FOR CATHOLIC PARISH PASTORS

Today, on this feast of the Good Shepherd, we celebrate, appreciate and honor the shepherd of Most Precious Blood Parish, Fr. Pat Ryan. We take time this day to express our gratitude for all that Fr. Ryan does for our parish. We are indeed blessed to have a caring spiritual leader. We are grateful to you, Father.

HOME & SCHOOL GENERAL MEETING

We are very happy to announce that the DeSmet Council of Knights of Columbus has once again agreed to fund our request for additional computer lab purchases. The presentation of the grant will take place at the next Home & School Meeting on April 23 at 7:30 pm in the school cafeteria. Elections for the new officers will also take place at this meeting. Parents are encouraged to come to show our gratitude to the Knights of Columbus.

LITURGY COMMITTEE MEETING

The next meeting will take place on Tuesday, April 22 at 7:00 pm in the rectory meeting room. Plans for the Living Rosary, Pentecost & July 4 Celebration will be finalized. In-service training will continue. New members are always welcome. No previous experience is required.

Rosary

May is the month dedicated to the Blessed Mother. On Thursday, May 1st at 7:00 pm we will have the Living Rosary along with Benediction to kick off the month. The special guests of honor will the be first communion classes and our eighth grade graduating classes from the Parish School and School of Religion. A reception in their honor will follow in the cafeteria. All families, young and old, are asked to join us for these Marian Devotions.

QUOTE FROM THE CHURCH'S SOCIAL TEACHINGS

On the basic principle which guarantees the sacred dignity of the individual, the Church constructs her social teaching. She has formulated, particularly over the past hundred years, and through the efforts of a very well-informed body of clergy and laity, a social doctrine which points out with clarity the sure way to social reconstruction. The principles she gives are of universal application, for they take human nature into account, and the varying conditions in which human life is lived. They also take into account the principle characteristics of contemporary society, and are thus acceptable to all. Mater et Magistra #220
