Archdiocesan Development Appeal
Today is ADA Sunday when volunteers will be visiting
the homes of parishioners who were unable to sign their
pledge cards in the class rooms the past two weekends.
Please be courteous to the volunteers as they do not
know your financial situation. Only you and the Good
Lord does! Your generosity in this endeavor goes a
long way to assist the needy and under privileged,
provide for education, the care of our priests and
retired religious, as well as many other diocesan
sponsored programs. We sincerely appreciate everyone
who has helped the two previous weekends in the
classrooms and those who will be making the home visits
today.
LADIES GUILD COMMUNION BREAKFAST
This Sunday at the 9:30 am mass the St. Ann's Guild
will have the installation of officers and their annual
Communion breakfast. The Past President, Dolores
Zerbarini will speak about the organizations' program.
We are very grateful to her and to Mary Ann Kroener, V.
P.; Sandy Wich, Secretary; and Barb Kreuzkamp,
Treasurer, for a job well done. Their leadership and
the spirit of the entire organization lends much to the
life of the parish. They truly are our parish
hostesses.
HOLY DAY OF OBLIGATION
Thursday of this week is a holy day of obligation. The
feast of the Ascension. Masses for the holy day will
begin on Wednesday evening at 5:00 pm, the anticipated
mass. On the day itself, we will have mass at 6:30 and
9:00 am and again at 7:00 pm. Be sure to mark your
calendar for these times.
ARCHBISHOP RIGALI VISIT
On Mother's Day, May 11, Archbishop Rigali will visit
Most Precious Blood at the 9:30 am mass. He wishes to
speak to the people of the parish and to celebrate mass
with us. A light breakfast reception will follow the
mass in the cafeteria. Although this is a very
difficult time to schedule this, I hope that as many as
possible will join us for the celebration and welcome
Archbishop Rigali. Bring your children and
grandchildren.
Pray for Peace
GRASSO SCHOLARSHIP COMMITTEE
Each year the parish awards two scholarships to
graduates from the parish school or school of religion
who are going to Catholic High Schools. The
scholarships are in honor of the late Tony Grasso, Sr.
Applications have been filed and now committee members
are asked to meet on Wednesday, May 7 at 8:00 pm in the
rectory (after holyday mass).
MOTHER'S DAY CARDS
The Home & School Association is once again sponsoring
the sale of Mother's Day cards. If you would like to
enroll your mother/grandmother (whether they are living
or deceased) in the novena of masses to be said here at
Precious Blood, please fill out the appropriate
information and return it in the collection basket or
to the rectory. All donations will go to the Home &
School projects.
QUOTE FROM THE CHURCH'S SOCIAL TEACHINGS
Personal dignity and liberty cannot be safeguarded as
well by human laws as they can by the gospel entrusted
to the Church. The Church has no proper role in the
political, economic or social order, but its religious
mission can serve to structure and consolidate the
human community according to divine law. The promotion
of unity belongs to the Church's innermost nature
especially because it is bound to no particular culture
or political or economic system. (Gaudium et Spes #45)
DOORWAYS COLLECTION
This weekend we are collecting paper products and
cleaning products for persons living with AIDS. These
items are of tremendous help to them. Thank you for
your generosity.
CATHOLIC LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
The Catholic Leadership Development program is
accepting applications for Fall 1997. If you are 25-40
years old, this is your opportunity to become involved
in your Church in ways you may never have considered
possible. This tuition free three year program is
funded by an ADA grant. To learn more, call Fr. Ryan
or call 727-2350 to attend an informational meeting.

Thank You
The First Communicants, teachers and administrative
staff wish to thank Kathy Vaughn for the flower
arrangements, candles and stands, and the fresh flowers
given and arranged for the First Communion day

children were in the class - they made the two
beautiful banners. We plan to keep these for the day
the children are Confirmed. All added to the festive,
meaningful celebration last Sunday afternoon.
