Family Retreat
Today will be our first family retreat at the Shrine of
Our Lady of the Snows. We pray that all the
participants will be blessed with an enriching
experience. Sunday Mass will be part of the program.
Dress Comfortably.
Breakfast Meeting
This year we will have a breakfast meeting once a month
after the 9:30 am mass on Sunday mornings to discuss
topics of concern in our contemporary culture. The
first talk will look at how we share faith with each
other. You can't make someone believe but you can
help to sponsor another person's development. Come and
join as we discuss the contexts in which this can best
happen. Baby-sitting will be provided. The first
meeting will be September 28 in the cafeteria. No
registration is required.
Welcome New Members
New Parishioners are asked to register at the rectory.
A welcoming brunch is scheduled twice a year to
introduce new-comers to parish leadership and programs.
Our next brunch will be after the 9:30 am mass on
Sunday, October 5. Please contact us, if you are new
so we can formally invite you.
CONVERT'S WANTED
We have no way to extend an invitation to new members
except through parishioners. If you know of someone
who might be interested in becoming a Catholic, please
let us know. We will personally contact them and
invite them to our program beginning Thursday, October
2 at 7:00 pm. When was the last time you invited
someone to come and share faith with us?
Financial News
Due to the Homecoming, Catechetical Sunday
Celebrations, Parish Retreat & Welcoming Brunch we
have had to postpone the annual parish report on
finances until October 11 & 12. The President of the
Parish Council and Fr. Ryan will address the parish at
that time. We will also give an accounting of where we
stood and how things look for the future.
LITURGY COMMITTEE
Due to a conflict in schedules with several committee
members, the first meeting of the year has been moved
to Tuesday, September 30 at 7:00 pm in the rectory
meeting room: Agenda - new guidelines from the
Archbishop on liturgical rubrics, planning for
Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas celebrations,
in-service for members. We are always open to having
new members join.
SERVERS SCHEDULE
New schedules for Fall, '97 have been published.
Parents are reminded to mark down their
son's/daughter's appointment times and to remind them
of their responsibility when the day comes. We repeat
the schedule in the bulletin a week ahead of time.
Please help us to teach responsibility by having the
servers here on time.
Youth Ministry
This fall we will begin a youth ministry program for
teens who are freshmen, sophomores and juniors in
catholic and public high schools. Sr. Rose has met
with different groups of adults for input. Those teens
in the age group mentioned above will be receiving a
letter inviting them to the get-together. Presently we
are forming a core team of youth to work on the
activities and events. The purpose of the Youth
Ministry Program is to have the youth of the parish
1)seeking greater personal involvement in their parish
community; 2)wanting to share their gifts, talents and
Catholic faith with peers; 3)wanting to strengthen
their faith; 4)willing to commit to Christian service.
Any youth interested in serving on the Core team please
call Sr. Rose at 487-6456.
FLU SHOTS
The Visiting Nurse's Association will once again be at
Most Precious Blood on October 12 from 9 to 11 am to
administer flu shots. Cost will be $10.00. For those
people with Medicare B card, flu shots will be billed
directly to Medicare. If you are a member of a
Medicare HMO, contact your HMO for your flu shot.

SOCIAL JUSTICE QUOTE
All the people must treat them (migrants) not as mere
tools of production but as persons, and must help them
to bring their families to live with them and to
provide themselves with a decent dwelling; they must
also see to it that these workers are incorporated into
the social life of the country or region that received
them. Gaudium et Spes #66
