Opening Meeting
- Anyone wishing to find out
more about the Catholic faith is invited to a meeting
on Thursday, October 2 at 7 pm in the rectory meeting
room. No reservations are required. Come and inquire
about our traditions and beliefs. See if they may be
of help to you on your spiritual journey. There is no
fee involved.
Welcome New Members
Next Sunday we will welcome new families to the parish
after the 9:30 am mass. If you are new to the area,
please call the rectory to register (487-6456). We
want to invite you to this brunch to meet parish
leadership and to become acquainted with parish
programs.
MURDER VICTIM FAMILIES
As you know there has been a change in the Catechism of
the Catholic Church on the topic of the death penalty.
The pope has come out against it as a normal means to
redress injustices. Imprisonment without parole is a
viable option in today's world and that must be the
preferred manor of punishment. In order to better
understand why this option is so Christian in its
foundation, I have asked one of the Board Members from
the national Association of Murder Victims' Families
for Reconciliation to speak at the 9:30 am mass on
Sunday, October 5. They are holding their national
convention in St. Louis this week. You can read more
about this in last week's issue of the St. Louis
Review.
RETURNING GOD'S GIFTS
Shortly we will begin the Archdiocesan Program entitled
"Returning God's Gifts". This Capital Campaign Drive
for the diocese will be held at MPB later this fall.
You have heard about it from other parishes. We are in
the last block of parishes to do the program.
LITURGY COMMITTEE
The next meeting of the liturgy committee will be on
Tuesday, September 30 at 7 pm in the rectory meeting
room. Agenda items include: New directives from the
Archbishop on liturgy, planning Thanksgiving, Advent &
Christmas, in-service training etc.
COLLECTION FOR ABUSED SHELTER
Next weekend we will be collecting items for the
Women's Abused Shelter. Needed items are diapers, baby
formula, sanitary items, etc. Your generosity is
always appreciated.
Church Cleaning
The Church Cleaners could use a few more women to help
volunteer to clean church. We clean once every 5
weeks. Please phone 544-4374 if you can help.

includes a 3-0 victory over St. Francis in the final.
Great job girls, we are proud of your effort.
YOUTH MINISTRY
This fall we will begin a youth ministry program for
teens who are freshmen, sophomores and juniors in
catholic and public high schools. Sr. Rose has met
with different groups of adults for input. Those teens
in the age group mentioned above will be receiving a
letter inviting them to the get-together. Presently we
are forming a core team of youth to work on the
activities and events. The purpose of the Youth
Ministry Program is to have the youth of the parish
1)seeking greater personal involvement in their parish
community; 2)wanting to share their gifts, talents and
Catholic faith with peers; 3)wanting to strengthen
their faith; 4)willing to commit to Christian service.
Any youth interested in serving on the Core team please
call Sr. Rose at 487-6456.
