ARCHDIOCESE 150 YEARS OLD

All are invited to join Archbishop Rigali for the celebration of the Eucharist in thanksgiving for 150 years of God's blessings to the Archdiocese of St. Louis and in celebration of the designation of the Cathedral of St. Louis as a Basilica by His Holiness, Pope John Paul II, at 5 pm on Sunday, October 19 at the Cathedral Basilica of St. Louis.

Welcoming BRUNCH

We welcome all the new families to our parish who have registered since last spring. We invite you and your families to a brunch in the cafeteria after the 9:30 am mass today so that you can meet the parish leadership and learn more about our programs. Welcome to MPB.

MURDER VICTIM FAMILIES FOR RECONCILIATION

This group is holding their annual convention here in St. Louis and one of the Board Members will address the parishioners at the 9:30 am mass. This is most significant in light of the recent changes in the "Universal" Catechism on capital punishment. Come and hear what the families of victims have to say. This will be followed by coffee and refreshments in the 8th grade classroom. This is a good way to kick off Pro-Life Month. We are to be concerned about respect for life in all its forms - from birth to death.

CO-CHAIRPERSON NEEDED

John Barbeau has agreed to chair the Fall Festival for 1998 here at MPB. We are still in need of a co-chair. The co-chair will learn the ropes next year and hopefully will become the chair in 1999. Please consider this responsible position as a way to give witness to your faith through using the talents God has given you by organizing God's people here at MPB as we continue our mission as parish family.

We are also in need of a chairperson and co-chair for the Lucky Six Program. While this is not as involved as the Homecoming, it is extremely important in our fundraising efforts. Please don't let the parish down. We are in this together.

SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMENTS

- We must help create favorable conditions for the free exercise of economic activity, which will lead to abundant opportunities for employment and sources of wealth. Directly and according to the principle of solidarity, by defending the weakest by placing certain limits on the autonomy of the parties who determine working conditions and by ensuring in every case the necessary minimum support for the unemployed worker.
