Coming Soon
Returning God's Gifts - Sharing Our Hope:
In the weeks ahead, you will be reading more about an
exciting new campaign taking place throughout the
Archdiocese of St. Louis. The campaign, Returning
God's Gifts - Sharing Our Hope, is an exciting
opportunity for all of us to address the most pressing
needs of our Church. The Returning God's Gifts
Campaign seeks to raise a minimum of $55,000,000 from
the generosity of Catholics in our Archdiocese. The
proceeds of this visionary undertaking will be placed
into funds which will provide us with the ability to
meet needs in the areas of parish viability, Catholic
education, priest's retirement, seminary education and
our Cathedral Basilica now and into the future.
Each week, this space in the MPB bulletin will be
devoted to reminders and important announcements
concerning Returning God's Gifts. The Major Gift
Committee will meet at Mary, Queen of the Universe
Parish at 7 pm on Monday, Oct. 20. The parish
leadership team for the campaign is also reminded to be
present for the meeting.
Representatives from the parish will begin making
calls shortly. Please welcome them to your home. A
full explanation of the program will be made by Fr.
Ryan next weekend at all the masses. This program is a
tremendous undertaking, may God bless our efforts to
plan for the future.
ARCHDIOCESAN ANNIVERSARY
Today we celebrate the 150th Anniversary of our
Archdiocese. Arch. Rigali and Cardinal Schotte, the
personal envoy from Pope John Paul II, will celebrate
mass of thanksgiving at 5 pm Today at the St. Louis
Cathedral Basilica. All are invited to attend.
MISSION SUNDAY
Today is the annual collection in support of the
Propagation of the Faith Programs throughout the world.
Sharing our faith is an important part of giving
witness to God's grace in our life. Please be
generous.
VOCATION PRAYER CROSS
Wednesday, October 22nd, the Archdiocesan Vocation
Prayer Cross will come to MPB. Each parish has been
asked to spend 1 day in prayer, asking God to bless the
future of our Church with vocations. The day will
begin with mass at 8 am followed by exposition of the
Blessed Sacrament for the remainder of the day-until 7
pm when we will conclude with benediction.
Parishioners are encouraged to make an effort to come
to church sometime during this day and "pray that the
Lord will send workers into the harvest." Parents
picking up students after school are asked to come 15
minutes early and pray before you pick-up the kids.
PSR students & parents are encouraged to come at 6:30
and stay for benediction. Retired persons are
encouraged to come during the day. Concluding service
at 7 pm.
STEWARDSHIP FOLLOW-UP
All parishioner are asked to prayerfully consider the
letters that were sent out this week on the topic of
stewardship. Please reflect on what your response will
be to God's generous concern for you and how you will
return thanks to Him for what He has done. We are not
asking for any commitment in writing. Please be as
generous as you can in supporting our parish community.

SOCIAL JUSTICE COMMENTS
- There is an appeal for
a special exercise of Christian love so that these
people (migrants) have at least elementary human rights
guaranteed to them. Though labor problems in the
receiving country may block efforts of local churches
in favor of these people, the Church, faithful to the
Gospel and the social teaching that comes from it,
cannot admit that economic, political, ideological or
other motives take precedence over the dignity of men
and their conditions or sons (and daughters) of the
same Father.
