Announcing

Returning God's Gifts

: This weekend will kick off the start of an exciting campaign for the Archdiocese of St. Louis called Returning God's Gifts - Sharing Our Hope. The goal of this historic effort to raise at least $55 million from all parishioners in our Archdiocese. These funds will ensure the ability of our Church to meet important needs in the areas of parish viability, catholic education, and priests' retirement on into the future.
Each parish including ours has received a financial target which represents our fair share of the overall goal. Importantly, 10% of what is raised from parishioners at Most Precious Blood will be returned to our parish for meeting our own needs including the continued financial support of our school. More news and information about this exciting effort going on in the Archdiocese will be forthcoming in the weeks ahead.
The meetings for this week include the Team Captains Training and Assignment Meeting on Monday, October 27 at 7 pm at Mary Queen of the Universe Cafeteria. All Team Captains are reminded to be there.

Special Mass

This weekend at the 9:30 am mass the parents and students from the Parish School & School of Religion who will be making their First Reconciliation and First Communion this year will have their pledge of commitment and enrollment of the students. This is an important moment in our parish's faith life. Be sure to keep these families and students in your prayers.

Retirement Fund for Religious

You will find a brochure in the bulletin today pertaining to this collection. Please be as generous as possible. These men and women have served us faithfully. We can't forget them in their hour of need. The collection will be next Sunday.

Feast of All Saints

Since this feast falls on a Saturday this year, it is not a holyday of obligation. We will celebrate the feastday mass at 8:00 am in the morning. However, the evening mass will be for the Sunday Feastday.

All Souls Remembrance

The Fifty Plus Club will assemble as a group at the 5:00 pm mass on Saturday, November 1 to pray for all the deceased members. All the masses that weekend will have a solemn reading of the names of deceased parishioners who were buried from our Church this past year. Their names were inscribed in the Book of the Dead by family members and so we ask all parishioners to remember them and their families in your prayers.

BOOK OF THE DEAD

During the month of November it is a tradition at MPB to place the Book of the Dead in the sanctuary. Anyone wishing to have a family member or friend's name inscribed in the Book of the Dead is asked to write that name(s) on a piece of paper along with "Book of the Dead" and send it to the rectory or drop it in the collection basket. Parishioners are encouraged to find the names of your loved ones on previous pages in the book. These persons have gone before us marked with the sign of faith. Let us continue to remember them in our prayers until we all meet again in the Lord.

Respect Life

If one contends, as we do, that the right of every fetus to be born should be protected by civil law and supported by civil consensus, then our moral, political and economic responsibilities do not stop at the moment of birth. Those who defend the right to life of the weakest among us must be equally visible in support of the quality of life of the powerless among us: the old and the young, the hungry and the homeless, the undocumented immigrant and the unemployed worker. Cardinal Joseph Bernadin, "A Consistent Ethic of Life".

Time and Talent Catalogue

The new Time and Talent Catalogue will be coming out in February. I am in the process of correcting and up-dating the census list that appears in the back of the book. If you have had a change of address or phone number, or if you do not want your phone number listed in the book, please call the rectory between 8:30 and 4:30, Monday thru Friday. 487-6456 Thank you.
