RETURNING GOD'S GIFTS

In the previous two weeks, you have begun to hear and read about our parish's participation in Returning God's Gifts, a campaign to provide for the financial future of the Archdiocese of St. Louis. A major benefit of the Returning God's Gifts campaign will be the dedication of $15,000,000 in endowment principal to help ensure that Catholic education is available to our children. An endowment of $10,000,000 will be devoted for tuition assistance grants to help Catholic parents who could not otherwise send their children to archdiocesan, regional and parochial high schools and parish elementary schools. An additional $5,000,000 in endowment funding will be set aside for facility and program needs at our archdiocesan, regional and parochial high schools. Initially, revenue of $750,000 to $1,500,000 annually is expected to be available for use in these areas of need. Meeting Schedule: Report Meeting for Leadership Team, Major Gift Committee and Team Captains at Mary Queen of Universe at 7:00 pm.

Retirement Fund for Religious

There will be a second collection today for the Retired Religious. A special envelope for this purpose was in your packet. These men and women have served us faithfully for decades. We cannot forget them in their hour of need. Please be as generous as possible.

Vote!

Self-Nominations are now being accepted for anyone who wants to run for the Parish Council in the December elections. Candidates must be registered parishioners, 18 years of age, and willing to attend monthly meetings as we give shape to the future directions of our parish. Call the rectory to submit your name.

All Souls Day

This weekend at all the masses we will have a solemn reading of all the names of the persons who were buried from Most Precious Blood during this past year. Their names have been inscribed in the Book of the Deceased which is on display in the sanctuary during the month of November. If you would like to have your loved one's name added to the book, please drop a line to the rectory or in the collection basket. We will be sure to add their name to the book. Feel free to look in the book and find the name of loved ones who have died in the past year.

YOUTH MASS

The Youth Group from the Parish School and School of Religion will be at the 9:30 am mass next Sunday, November 9. Their annual communion Sunday is a special day to pray for God's blessings on their futures and their friendships. We are very grateful to all the adults who are working with our children.

BAPTISMAL PREP-PROGRAM

We require that parents who want to have their child baptized to attend one preparation meeting before setting the date for baptism. This is normally held on the first Sunday of the month at 7:00 pm in the rectory. Please call Deacon Allen Boedeker to make reservations for the class at 481-8968.

Eucharistic Ministers

The new schedules are now ready to be picked up in the sacristy. Please be sure to read carefully because there are some very important changes.

Time and Talent Catalogue

The new Time and Talent Catalogue will be coming out in February. I am in the process of correcting and up-dating the census list that appears in the back of the book. If you have had a change of address or phone number, or if you do not want your phone number listed in the book, please call the rectory between 8:30 and 4:30, Monday thru Friday. 487-6456 Thank you.

SOCIAL JUSTICE TEACHINGS

Rich countries have the duty to work for solutions, and poor countries have a right to development not only of individual persons but of whole peoples. People in developing countries have to do their part and make themselves instruments of their own liberations, launching the spirit of initiative in every field. Developed countries should have the courage to open themselves to migration, which experience shows, has led to its own benefit. The history of the Americas shows this.
