RETURNING GOD'S GIFTS

As Christians we have a need to express our acceptance of God's love by sharing what we have received from God with our parish, our Archdiocese and our community. As we strive to be good stewards of the gifts God has given us, each of us is presented with opportunities to return to God a portion of His blessings. Returning God's Gifts is such an opportunity.
By now, most of you have received information in the mail or you should be receiving it shortly regarding the campaign. The mailings are being sent out from the diocese in segments. Each household can expect to be contacted from one of our visitors within the next several weeks. Again, I ask you to welcome our visitors warmly and to prayerfully reflect on the request made of you.
The report meeting for Team Captains and visitors will be Wednesday, December 3 at 7:30 pm in the cafeteria. All visitors are reminded to make their calls and to turn in the envelopes at the Wednesday meeting.

Advent

This is the first Sunday of Advent. We will have special programs during the Advent Season. The Communal Anointing Service will be next Sunday, December 7 at 1:00 pm. The Communal Penance Service for Adults will be Thursday, December 11 at 7:00 pm. The kids service will be December 4 for the Parish School and December 15 for the School of Religion. The School Christmas Program will be December 18 at 7:00 pm and the PSR Advent Mass will be December 8 at 7:00 pm. The Giving Tree will be in the vestibule of Church. Please take a paper ornament, purchase the gift and return it to the tree by December 14. This is early so we need your cooperation.

First Sunday of Advent

ADVENT FAMILY SUGGESTIONS

- Each week we will suggest something to do at home to make Advent special. Here is something for the first week:
1. Make Crib Straws: Decorate shoe-box or other container to symbolize Jesus' crib. During Advent, have family members add a piece of straw - or strip of colored paper- for each good deed they do. Prepare a nice soft bed for when Jesus arrives.
2. Set up a Creche: Expand the scene each Sunday by adding figures. Wait until Christmas Eve to add Christ Child.

SUNDAY MORNING CONVERSATIONS

- Fr. Ryan will host the second in a series of Breakfast Meetings after the 9:30 am mass today, November 30 in the cafeteria. The topic for this session is racism. This is an issue that is tearing our St. Louis Community apart. Come and reflect together on the Church's teachings and how we can respond to this issue.

THANK YOU'S

- We appreciate all the canned goods and donations that were given to the Feed the Poor Program and Parish Help Program for Thanksgiving. St. Agatha and the Parish Food Pantry thank you.

COLLECTION FOR WOMEN'S ABUSE SHELTER

- Next weekend we will be collecting baby items and diapers for the St. Louis Women's Abuse Shelter. Your generosity is always appreciated.

First Reconciliation

Thursday of this week, December 4th, the students from the Parish School & School of Religion will make their first reconciliation. Parents and family remembers are invited to join their students for this celebration. It will begin at 7:00 pm. Parishioners are asked to keep the students and their families in your prayers.

Board of Education

The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, December 2 at 7:00 pm in the rectory meeting room. Agenda items include: update on Policy Book procedures, requests for tuition assistance, and more.

EAGLE SCOUT PROJECT

We want to publicly thank Matt Guillot for making his Eagle Scout Project: Re-clearing the land between Bellewood and the Church Parking lot. Matt organized a team of workers from St. Stephen's Scout Troop, supervised the project and spent many hours completing the work. It is a great service to the parish and we congratulate Matt on a job well done.

SOCIAL JUSTICE THOUGHTS

It is the church's duty to scrutinize the signs of the times and interpret them in the light of the Gospel..it is also noteworthy how many men are being induced to migrate on various accounts, and are thereby changing their manner of life. Gaudium et Spes #6

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

- "Now my brothers and sisters, you must learn to conduct yourselves in a way pleasing to God." As we prepare our hearts for Jesus, we must ask ourselves: How are we living out our call to stewardship? Although at times, it may seem to be an uphill struggle, there is a great joy and peace that comes from a life of sharing our God-given gifts.
