What is a Parish Nurse?
Our Parish Nurse, Timmie Caruso, is an RN who is a member of the parish staff. She works to assess and facilitate the emotional, physical and spiritual well-being of parishioners. The Parish Nurse holds four primary roles:
Health Counselor
  • Discusses health-related issues.
  • Listens to and support parish members during times of concern or crisis
  • Visits with parishioners in their homes, hospital, nursing homes, or in her office.
Health Educator
  • Promotes an understanding of the relationship between the mind, body and spirit.
  • Promotes educational programs and information utilizing other community organizations and groups, when possible.
Resource/Referral Agent
  • Links people with needs or questions with the resources available through parish, community or other organizations.
Volunteer Coordinator/Facilitator
  • Recruits, coordinates and resources volunteers within the congregation.
Who Should Contact The Parish Nurse?
  • Anyone who is unsure who provides or how to access community resources such as meals on wheels, transportation, nursing home placement or home care visits.
  • Persons or family members of persons who are struggling with health-related issues such as high blood pressure, cancer, heart disease, etc. and needs answers to questions or just a good listener.
  • Anyone who is unsure who to call but needs help.

How Do You Contact The Parish Nurse?
The Parish Nurse is generally available Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and Wednesday, 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Her office is located in the back of church next to the cry room. You can reach the Parish Nurse by phone through the parish office (487-2522). If needed, request that the nurse be paged and she will return your call as soon as possible.
