Illinois Power's Mr. Sean Vanslyke presented two $100 grants to Father John Hannigan on behalf of Mrs. Dawn Eddington and Mrs. Dawn McFarland. Mrs. McFarland's grant is for a special science project, while Mrs. Eddington's grant is for a literature book to be produced in class (third & fourth grade).
Lela Voorhees, an eighth-grader at St. Maurice recently won the Daughters of the American Revolution essay contest. Lela, the daughter of Ed and Linda (Fishburn) Voorhees, wrote her award winning essay on the death of George Washington. The contest was held for grades 5-8 in Christian County.
Father John Hannigan recently celebrated his 50th birthday. On Friday, March 10, Father and Alex Deal celebrated a surprise birthday party held at the school. Father provided treats for the students. He was also surprised to receive hundreds of spiritual bouquets, a plant that prays, and a cash donation. The singing for the two birthday boyswas especially exuberant.
