CLUEDO

Narrative 1

It was midday when Mrs. Betty Smith made her way through the Brindabella mansion doors. She was welcomed by Mrs. Peacock , who with a great deal of delight exclaimed, " Betty…what brings you to my humble home? "

" Business, Mrs. Peacock, business!" The stern voice and the defiant look on her face told Mrs. Peacock that the woman she had known as Betty Smith, was not the woman who now stood before her.

Narrative 2

At dinner that night , Mrs. Peacock could sense that a number of the Brindabella inhabitants felt ill at ease as this woman shared their meal. Colonel Mustard , she noted, spoke not a word as if not knowing what to say. Reverend Green was polite ; so was Miss Scarlet. Professor Plum was living up to his usual reputation; he was oblivious to anyone else , his attention given completely to his food. One wondered how he could be so taken with his food given that he had just experimented with blood-red, green and orange chemicals. And Mrs. White? Well, even though she was hardly present as a result of her duties, she remained awfully quiet.

Narrative 3

That night, Colonel Mustard had difficulty sleeping and so went into the kitchen. Mrs. White was there at the sink in her nightgown with the kitchen knife in her hand. " Having trouble sleeping Colonel?" asked Mrs. White

" Yes…I can’t seem to keep my eyes closed. Mrs. White , what did you think about Betty Smith ? "

" Oh well", Mrs. white looked slightly uneasy, " she seems too bitter a person to be any friend of Mrs. Peacock. Did you hear the way she spoke to Miss Scarlet after dinner?"

" No I didn’t"

" Well, I was cleaning up after everyone had finished and had decided to go out for a walk- all except Miss Scarlet and Miss Smith"

" Really? " asked Colonel Mustard as he gazed at the swiftness with which Mrs. White carved some dough into cookie sized shapes.

" Yes Miss Scarlet seemed very angry indeed . I couldn’t make it out that well but it wasn’t long before Miss Scarlet had stormed out of the room. I got a look at Miss Starlet’s face , and if a look could kill, Miss Betty would have been as good as dead"

" Dana darling, you have a beautiful home " said Betty to Mrs. Peacock the next morning as she made her way into the living room.

" Thankyou Betty.." Mrs. Peacock sought for the right words ." You said yesterday that you were here on business. I don’t mean to pry but after all I do have the right to know about…" she began to say as she moved closer towards the bar where Betty had made herself at home. Accidentally, Mrs. Peacock struck the coffee table and the candelabra fell to the floor with a thump.

" Dana.. You know very well what I mean. You haven’t forgotten his value? $1.3 billion. It is rightfully mine"

Mrs. Peacock , who had understood what she was afraid to acknowledge suddenly became enraged

" You should find some other way to get to them Betty. Hey should not be exposed to your vile intentions"

" But, " she replied with a smile on her face, " that is the fun part".

As Betty walked triumphantly out of the room Professor plum entered and saw the look of hatred in Mrs. Peacock’s eyes.

Narrative 4

At dinner that night, the whole household was wondering why Mrs. Peacock had let this vile woman in her house. " Anyway as you can see she has left for the day. I found a note in my room this afternoon whilst most of you were out , stating that she would be leaving for the day on some business, returning some time after dinner".

" Well I am glad then that we will be going on our usual after dinner Promenade as the French would say", added Professor Plum as swiftly as an eagle swooping down to its prey.

" Whilst we are on that subject folks…I think that I’ll give the walk a miss tonight" said Reverend Green. " I’m extremely tired and wish to simply clean and call it a night if you all don’t mind. "

" Oh nonsense Reverend", interjected Colonel Mustard, " the walk will do you good".

" No no Colonel, but thank you for your concern"

" Mrs. White…" called out Miss Scarlet whilst excusing herself from the table and walking over to the kitchen" could you please do me a favour? "

Miss Scarlet then went on with her request whilst those at the table listened carefully to her words, almost as if all of them had a bet on what she was asking her. They heard her ask if Mrs. White could pop down to the Patisserie. Miss Scarlet was on one of her craving sessions, for a particular Italian dessert. She just had to have these Italian desserts for breakfast the next morning.

Narrative 5

One hour later it was about 7 PM. The Brindabella household was taking advantage of the extra daylight afforded the NSW state each summer. Professor Plum had requested if he could join them a little later on their walk. He had eaten so much at dinner as per usual and would first have a nap so as not to get a stitch . Colonel Mustard would also be a bit late . He decided he would go with Mrs White and told everyone else this while Mrs. White was in her room getting her bag. .The rest all said they would go for a walk but Plum had the distinct impression they would all be going their separate way. Miss Scarlet had said that she was tired of the same old routine. Time passed. At 7PM , Mrs. White and Reverend Green came rushing in from the kitchen, yelling

" She’s dead..she’s dead.. Betty is dead. She’s just lying there on the kitchen floor with a knife in her hand and blood everywhere"

Professor Plum came out of his room saying, " How can this be? I’ve been here all the time and I didn’t hear her come in at all ! " . The others came in from outside where they had been resting after their walk.
