Statues of Jesus and
Mary weeping tears of water and blood
Please note: Some Non-Catholic Christians may question the
'Christian' quality of this page, motivated by a particular presumption
about what the Catholic Church teaches. In order to avoid
stereotypical accusations about my faith, please note the
following key points:
- It is important to state from the outset that the
Catholic Church does not accept miraculous occurrences as
authentic until proven beyond any doubt to be authentic,
and from God - in accordance with the truth of Scripture
and the living tradition of the Church, guided by the
Holy Spirit.
- I do accept Christ as my only
Savior and Lord
- I do not equate an acceptance of
authenticated miraculous occurrences involving Saints and
Mary as idolatory.
- A devotion to the saints and Mary is NOT equivalent to
idolatory. This is often poorly understood.
- Some miracles are 'false' and not of God - others are
from God.
- The key questions I ask myself when considering the
authenticity of a miracle are
- Is the message associated with the miracle
consistent with the teaching of the Church over
the past 2000 years?
- Does the miracle/message lead me to a deeper
relationship with Jesus Christ?
- Does it bear only good 'fruit'?
- Is it approved of by the Catholic Church?

- But what are the true teachings of the Catholic Church
and are they Scripturally based? The following link will
answer any question you may have on the teachings of the
Church, in the light of Scripture.
