A Daughter's Miracle and Strength

Monday, September 13, 1999 10:02 AM

Like Tara, I believe my daughter, Angel, is a walking miracle.  She was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia when she was 8.  She is now 10 and still on chemotherapy.  We have had many close calls.  When the bad times come, I immediately call on all our prayer warriors for prayer support.  Just last month was such a time.  We went on her make a wish trip to Salt Lake City.  Our first day, I had to rush Angel to the hospital.  She had pneumonia in both lungs.  Her condition kept deteriorating and she was on oxygen all day and all night.  The doctors performed a procedure to see what type of pneumonia she had.  Her condition still continued to worsen.  I emailed all my friends from the hospital.  By Thursday, Angel had done a complete turnaround.  The attending doctor told me that it was a miracle she had come around so fast.  She also said a higher power was definitely at work.  Unfortunately, that was not the only bad time we've had during her illness.  She developed blood clots and had to be put on blood thinners twice a day.  Then she had a virus twice that put us in the hospital several times.  However, no matter what the trial, her faith remains unchanged.  She truly humbles me by her faith.  When she gets a spinal tap or bone marrow test, she does three things:  first she prays, then she takes three deep breaths, then she counts to three.  After this routine, she is ready for whatever the doctor has in store for her.  I remember during one spinal tap she was in so much pain that she started praying to Jesus to take away the pain.  She told me afterwards that she immediately started feeling someone massaging her back where the needles were stuck in.  It certainly wasn't the doctor, the nurse or myself.  She believes it was her guardian angel.  I do too.

(I thank this mailing list friend very much for her testimony. May God continue to bless your daughter and your family
