Below you will find some guide questions which you are to complete after reading the different articles in front of you. By completing these questions thoroughly you will understand the features of feature article writing and will complete your major assessment well.

 

Compare each article. Justify your responses.

  1. What type of magazines are the articles taken from ?
  2. Is there any evidence in the articles that the author has particular values ? ( Which words indicate this ) ?
  3. What age group and gender are they aimed at ?
  4. What are the similarities and differences in style ? ( Words used, formal, serious, informal, sarcastic, OPINIONATIVE, OBJECTIVE, PERSUASIVE )
  5. How do the introductions to each article differ ?
  6. How do they compare in their subject matter ? ( Is an issue being addressed or is it an interview etc. ? )
  7. How are the articles similar to the writing in a novel ? ( Think of suspense, story - telling )
  8. Are they similar or different in structure and format - headings etc. ?
  9. How do the headings relate to the sections beneath them ?
  10. What sources of information have been used ?
  11. Compare the tone of each article . How would you describe the tone ?
