Liturgy and Devotion
Liturgy and Devotion
Apart from the Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, and Mass, two other beautiful liturgies were held. The 'staging' of the Stations of the Cross, on Friday afternoon, in the New Norcia cemetary proved to be most impresive. Set against the backdrop of bush and stone, the liturgy was especially ethereal and appropriate for a remembrance of the Passion of Christ. The red hue of the sun, caused by the smoke of a nearby fire complemented the moment.
Or perhaps we could speak of the beautiful Second Rite of Reconciliation held on Saturday evening, which became deeply Eucharistic, with each person receiving individual Benediction, after three hours of prayer. One retreatant was particularly touched at the sight of two of our priests falling to their knees and receiving absolution from one another.
