| An experience you can never forget | ||||
| We came upon the grotto by accident.
Having arrived in Lourdes in January, the French winter,
there were no organised tours and so we began to embark
on our voyage of discovery. We found the grotto, which
you see here, after walking around the Church which is
built on top of the grotto. Once we arrived, however, it
was unmistakable. There is no talking in this sanctuary.
To stand only metres away from the place Our Lady
appeared to Bernadette is an experience that is difficult
to explain. Suffice it to say, I will never forget it. It is said that all who come to Lourdes obtain their little miracle, whether it be physical, or more importantly, spiritual. All I can say is that my mother reconciled with God after many years of refusing to partake of the Sacrament of Penance - at Lourdes. My father voiced his desire to change his life - at Lourdes, and more than one person has commented on my strength and courage ever since returning - from Lourdes. Thank God for sending us the Mother of Jesus to remind us to return to her Son. |
