Dog sits in front of altar for the consecration at a morning Mass

I experienced the following event in early February at an early morning Mass in my old parish Church. I had noticed this beautiful Labrador entering the Church, exiting and coming back in. I noticed that whilst it entered the Sanctaury it didn't actually remain there. Before the Liturgy of the Eucharist it exited the Church again. But then it did something which took me and probably the others present by surprise. Just as we all knelt for the Eucharistic Prayer the dog ran down the aisle, circled the Altar and just before the words of consecration, sat down at the right hand side of the Priest. He remained there just for the words of Consecration and then stood up and left. I had my eyes on the dog and noticed that he hardly took his eyes off the Priest. I couldn't help but see in this dog's actions the events that would occur with saints such as St Francis when even the animals would acknowledge the presence of Christ in the Eucharist. It was all the more convincing when I considered what type of visting priest we had that morning - he was a Franciscan Priest. Wow!
