The Diocese is committed to living according to the principles of Stewardship as expressed in the U.S. Catholic Bishops' 1992 pastoral letter, Stewardship, A Disciple's Response. In it, they clearly indicate that a Christian Steward is one who "receives God's gifts gratefully, cultivates them responsibly, shares them lovingly in justice with others, and returns them abundantly to the Lord."

The Director of Development and Properties is charged with assisting Pastors and parish leaders to gain a deeper understanding of Stewardship and to establish ways to encourage a fuller exercise of Christian Stewardship in the lives of their parishioners. In most instances this includes the areas of time, talent, and monetary resources.
