Communications Services

The main purpose of the Communications Services Office is to develop and maintain contact with the secular news media representatives in order to provide information to the general public. This is done primarily by issuing news releases about diocesan events and responding to inquiries from news reporters about people and events taking place in the Roman Catholic Church in southern Missouri.

Communications Services relies on the annual Diocesan Development Fund appeal and on funding from the annual Catholic Communications Campaign to maintain the production arm of the department which consists of video and/or audio taping speakers at diocesan events. The annual DDF message from Bishop John Leibrecht is produced by Communications Services, as well as video production projects initiated at the parish and diocesan levels.

Mrs. Marilyn Vydra, Director of Communications Services, also maintains contact with professional Catholic communicators through membership in Unda-USA.

Communications Services also maintains the distribution of videos in the Diocesan Media Library.
