Charism/Apostolate in the
Church
The charism of the Sisters of the Incarnate Word
and Blessed Sacrament is to be in the Church and for the Church
"an extension of the Incarnation." As an important element
of their charism, they seek to welcome this inspired word with
an ever-deepening faith and to grow in joyful eagerness to ponder
and share it. Their charism in the Church as the spiritual daughters
of Jeanne de Matel challenges them to seek ever more earnestly
to make her spirit of humble submission, compassionate charity,
simplicity, detachment, and mortification the governing principle
of their lives. In summary, they are called to be "extensions
of the Incarnation" -to adore the Incarnate Word and to proclaim
His gospel of love and goodness.
Their apostolate in the Church involves:
- Special adoration and imitation of
the Incarnate Word;
- Special adoration of the Blessed Sacrament;
- Special reverence for Mary, the Mother
of the Incarnate Word;
- An apostolate of Christian education
and care of the sick determined by the current needs of the Church.
