WebPage designer/editor Chris Mosmeyer Chris is a lifelong Catholic living in Irving, Texas. Chris attended Catholic schools from kindergarten through high school and received a bachelor of arts degree in English from the University of Dallas, a Catholic institution in Irving, Texas. Chris also holds a master of arts degree from the University of North Texas. While at the University of Dallas, Chris took several philosophy and theology courses and was fortunate enough to be taught by Dr. Janet Smith, one of the foremost authorities on the Church's teaching on contraception. It is during that time that he became aware of the work of St. Thomas Aquinas. After five years working in newspaper and in media relations, Chris now teaches at English, Latin, and speech to high school students at St. Therese Academy in Irving. He currently attends Mass at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Irving. He has taught sixth-grade and 10th-grade CCD classes and has worked with the youth ministry group at St. Mark Catholic Church in Denton. He and his wife, Tristan, were married in August 1997, and they have one son, Thomas, born in May 1998.
Contributing Writer Janet E. Smith, PhD Dr. Smith is associate professor of philosophy at the University of Dallas and a leading authority on the Church's teaching on contraception. Her book Humanae Vitae: A Generation Later was published in 1991 and is comprehensive in its analysis of contraception and Pope Paul VI's encyclical. Smith has edited another book of essays on the encyclical. She has written numerous articles and has lectured internationally in support of the Church's stand on contraception. Humanae Vitae: A Challenge to Love is available in many Catholic bookstores and can be read on-line here at Lux Veritatis. Contributing Writer Fr. Mitch Pacwa, SJ Fr. Pacwa is a professor in the Universityof Dallas' Institute for Religious and Pastoral Studies. He has extensive knowledge of Church history, ancient Israel, and Catholic apologetics. He has made several trips to the Holy Land. Pacwa is a regular columnist for the National Catholic Register and appears regularly on EWTN. He also is an expert on cults and the New Age. Among his written works are two books: Catholics and the New Age in which he warns of the growing trend of New Age practices in the Church and Forgive Me Father for I am Frustrated.
Contributing Writer Tristan M. Mosmeyer Tristan is a lifelong Catholic living in Irving, Texas. She attended the University of Dallas for two years before transferring to the University of North Texas where she graduated in May with a degree in biochemistry. Born and raised in Wichita Falls, Tristan was active in the youth ministry at Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church throughout her school days. She has served as a confirmation counselor. At the University of Dallas, she was a sacristan and eucharistic minister at the university's Chapel of the Incarnation. Tristan attends Mass at St. Luke's Catholic Church in Irving. She taught 10th-grade CCD at St. Mark Catholic Church in Denton, volunteered in the parish office and has worked with youth groups. Tristan is a full-time mom taking care of Thomas, born May 1998.
Contributing Writer Ian Rutherford Ian is a lifelong Catholic living in Denver, Colorado. A graduate of the University of Dallas, Ian currently works for a computer company as a technical consultant. In his spare time, Ian manages a detailed website called The Catholic Liturgical Library, which can be accessed from any page on this site by clicking on Liturgical Questions at the bottom of the page. Ian has done considerable research on his faith and practices it daily. He and his wife, Paula, have sung in the University of Dallas Collegium Cantorum, a choral group specializing in traditional Catholic music including Gregorian Chant. They have one daughter, Lucy Elizabeth, born April 1999. |
