PSI Offline Idea

If your familiar with this web site, and have a minute, and especially if you teach religious education in any way, I need some help, and you may be in a position provide it. Won't take you long. No checkbook required.

I am considered constructing an "off-line" version of this site for people who need the information while in a situation where they don't have (or don't want to have) internet access. These could include:
  • Catholic school religion classes,
  • CYO groups,
  • CCD classes,
  • RCIA classes, or
  • individuals
who
  • do not have Internet access,
  • do not want classes being online,
  • do not have unlimited access,
  • have very slow connections, or
  • must pay per minute for dial up access.

Let me know what you think about the idea described.

Would you be interested in such an item? Would you use it? And with what organization? I'd especially like to hear from CYO, CCD or RCIA teachers.

If you think its a bad idea, I want to hear that, too. And what's wrong with it, if you have a moment.

Thanks for your help.

Note that this would NOT replace this web site. The online version would continue. In fact, everything that would go into the offline version would be posted online first.

The material would be modified so that there were no references or links to online sites. It would be wholly self-contained, would fit on a single CD, and I'd keep the hardware requirements as low as possible to support older equipment, which is what's usually found in Catholic schools. There will be more profiles, all cross-indexed, more category lists would be included, and the whole thing would be searchable. There will be no commercial links, no nag screens, no advertisements, and no attempt to sell anything.

At the same time there will be no scholarly essays, no teaching aids, and no printed version is planned. Just the site like you see it, converted to an offline form, and delivered to your mailbox.

So, what do you think? Good idea? Useful? Nonsense? Unneeded? If you think its a waste of time, let me know that, too, 'cause there's a lot of time involved. Good or bad, I like to know what you, the site visitors, think.
